B.j.'s Ballistic Budgie
Hi I'm afraid smoke & budgies don't mix very well Flip. The cannon is just a tube on top of a small box cage. Bird hops in has a little millet treat , while I line up the barrel, trajectory etc. The cannon barrel is pre loaded with a party popper that shoots out the usual stuff plus a few feathers. Your right about the cannon the bird is lowered into the back end & into the box. Yours B.J..

B.j.'s Ballistic Budgie
Hi Finnie. Your right about the catch. I carry Colin in my hand & pretend to catch him. While all attention is fixed on the shower of debris slowly drifting down. The big question is... Colin is seen to be placed into the cannon & the cannon is fired. You have to design or figure out how it's done. Yours B.J.

Getting the Fire Brigade involved would increase your audience but it wouldn't do your birds any good.Yours B.J.

B.j.'s Ballistic Budgie
B.J,'s BALISTIC BUDGIE CANNONBALL COLIN Imagine the scene Colin is about to be shot from a cannon into a net rigged up on the other side of the table. The audience hold their breath as Colin is loaded into the cannon. From a tin marked Gunpowder with a skull & crossbones I tip out a measured amount. Explaining that, never having done this trick before. I'm not sure how much explosive to use. Pausing for effect, I get the audience to count out, "1, 2, 3, fire." I pull the firing pin, there's a loud bang & a puff of smoke from the mouth of the cannon. A few feathers drift slowly down. All eyes are on the catch net as I dash round to the back of the audience & with a loud cry of "Got him" I pluck Colin from the air & certain death with a catch that an English cricket captain would be proud of. I apologise to my audience that I may have used a little too much gunpowder. Fortunately Colin has come to no harm. I ask & get a round of applause for. 'Cannonball Colin the Balistic Budgie' I have decided not to explain the "how to do it" for this act just yet. Perhaps you would like a chance to try to figuare out the how it's done. You never know, your way might be an improvment. Remember half of show biz is just, Smoke & Mirrors.

Possible Bro And Sis okay To Breed?
Hi I agree with Kaz. Mix them with your other unmated birds The bond between them may not be so strong when given a chance to breed with other mates. Budgies don't pair for life. Or even for a season given the chance. Yours B.J.

Finally Picked Up My Budgie!
Hello Nice bird. Persist with other fruit & veggies. He needs variety for its vitamin ect content. Try offering only one item at a time, cut up. You don't want a fussy eating chick growing into a fussy adult. Check out the posts on feeding for some good tips. The taming/training posts will also be worth a look at. Yours B.J.

New Problem
Hi, If why not use then remove the egg eating cock. The hen can manage to sit & raise the chicks on her own in most cases. So he wont be wasted. Yours B.J. PS I hate to ask, but with all your problems. Are your birds in full breeding condition?

Advice Needed
Hi Just a few bits of info to get you going First off Don't mix your Gouldies with your budgies. You can breed them on the colony system for better results, but if breeding for particular colours use breeding cages. They will need heat during winter or a very well insulated quarters. Feed finch mix seed plus anything else your feeding your budgies. Provide open fronted nest box, with moss. hay, wool string etc. They have a reputation as bad parents, most eggs are hatch/raised by other Finches, like Bengies. Treat as the other members of Finch family . Around 6 or 7 eggs laid, hatch around 14th day. Yours B.J..

Two Tame Birds Or Not
Hi Flip. Like your idea of reading & obviously it worked for you. Unfortunately It's workability depended on someone with your personality. Your knowledge of your bird, his attitude, demeanour, his quickness & eagerness to bond with you etc. None of which are transferable from person to person or bird to bird. As it works for you, stick with it. Yours B.J.

Hey
H Tink, There seems to be some confusion in your taming methods. Pleas checkout my Taming Blog post on this site. A few members don't agree with it but that's their choice. If you decide to follow it, can I stress you don't take any short cuts or rush from one step to the next before you are 100%, sure that both you & the bird are ready to move on...If your unsure about any point, don't be afraid to ask. Yours B.J.

Grandmothers Budgie
Lets agree to disagree. Quarantine must have a time limit or Budgies would become extinct. Yours, B.J.
