Free Hand Raised Budgie To Very Good Home - Sydney
Hi guys with a very heavy heart i am having to give my pet budgie away. I have moved to a smaller home and have since had a bub of my own. As much as i love him to bit i do not have the time or space for him. Sounds cruel saying this about someone you love but being locked up in the cage is not being fair to him. He has been so neglected that he is constantly bringing up food and feeding his toys. It is becoming very excessive now. He was hand raised from week 2 on quality bird raising food. He is used to roaming the house free. Ideally i would love for him to go to someone who has other birds or an aviary. He comes with food, a flight cage, a large standard cage and smaller cage i use to travel with him. I am based in the Kuringai region. Contact details provided via pm. I am trying to add a picture but gives me an error message.

Selling Budgies
Hi Jetsbudgies, good to see you are concerned about taxes but in this case it's a NO. No you do not have to report to ATO. The first step of declaring yourself a business is to work out if you are actually running a business. You should read this info: https://www.ato.gov.au/workarea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=7357 Do you have the purpose of profit ? Does it allow you to make a sustainable amount of profit ? You do make some profit on the sale of a bird however in business context that profit is eaten up by the expenses of raising the birds.

Latest Addition To The Flock
I am a bit baffled with your decision to rehome him to another home with budgie. I've read about the disease and even though the budgies deal with it better than other parrots doesn't mean other budgies should be exposed to this disease either. No parrot budgie or otherwise should be exposed to an infected one.

Some Dilemmas With Hand Raising - Advise Please
lol didn't even realise there was a reply to this thread. okay so it has been 6 days since my last post about this little fella. He's growing rapidly. Putting on steady weight. Feathers have come in but still looking little bit scruffed. Today was his first day without formula feed. I went from 5 feeds to 4 to 3 to 2 and then to 1 and finally no more formula. He doesn't seem to be hungry. His crop is full. Funny enough he knows how to crack the larger seeds in the trill mix but still prefers to eat the smaller seeds whole without removing the husk. Is drinking water. Not so keen on the veges but i am offering it everyday. Suprisingly prefers seeds over millet. When we brought him home When i posted this thread And today Also any ideas on what type he might be. He has blue on his back as seen in the next picture and blue under his belly. Despite his scruffy look he is super active. Plays alot, flaps around , has already started exploring everything and loves scratches.

Some Dilemmas With Hand Raising - Advise Please
I am sincerely hoping i have posted in the right area and was hoping i could get some advise here. I have been hand raising a baby budgie for one week now. Breeder told me budgie is 3 weeks old and there was an older sibling which was likely 4 weeks old. Looking at the feather development i would say the baby was 2 weeks old then and the sibling was 3 weeks old. Or the baby development was stunted due to being removed from parents etc. He is now either 3 weeks old or 4 weeks old. Feeding He's feeding well. Crop is filling and emptying. I do however have to sort of force him to take the formula. He has to be held. I've tried the bent spoon which he doesn't take. Only way of feeding him is with the syringe. I only put the food on the edge of his beak and he eats it. He does continue to struggle though. Not like those nice looking youtube videos. One problem is that he tends to eat seeds however doesn't take the husk off. I've seen him remove the husk a few times but then he eats the husk as well. He eats millet as well and i give him veges daily. He tends to keep himself full between formulas. I am supposed to feed him 3-4 ml formula each time but he only seems to take 2 - 3ml as he has already filled himself up with the seeds etc. Poop Suprisingly even thought he eats seeds whole, his poop doesn't have any undigested seeds. Poop look normal in colour with the brown bit and the white bit. Round firm , dries quickly and not too runny or yellow. Weight Day 1 - 30g Day 2 - 29g Day 3 - 30g Day 4 - 30g Day 5 - 33g Day 6 - 35g Day 7 - 37g He is a normal pet type budgie. Mum and dad looked normal in size too but the 37g is starting to alarm me. He still looks skinny and his feathers aren't even fully out yet. Feathers Not happy with the feathers though. All his primary/ secondary wing feathers are out. Feathers are on the lower half of his body and the legs. However only pins on his shoulders and very fine down feathers on his belly. Crop is mostly still naked. Face feathers are hard and clumped together mainly due to formula i believe. After every feed i wipe him with soft wet cloth very properly and gently rub the hard bits off. It has improved but is still not the best. Others I have given him cuttlefish bone and a mineral block. He has tried both. I am wondering if at this age he will know how much is enough or will simply continue eating it if he's hungry. Would over eating both affect his development. Thanks for reading guys. Would really appreciate any comments or advice.

Rest In Peace Chicku
He was an absolute character. The pain of losing him is still strong. We have however decide to get a new one. Not one to replace him but to really try and engage ourselves elsewhere.

Wanted - Breeder In Sydney Who Handraises
We've lost our pet budgie. The grief is unbearable. We aren't looking at replacing him but would like to engage ourselves with another budgie. Our family has a lot of love and dedication to offer. We are looking for a breeder who could genuinely hand raise a budgie for us. I have been checking out listings on gumtree but many are not handraised but are more hand tame. If anyone can provide us with this service. Suggestion are also welcome of breeders whom you have come across whom we can talk to.

Rest In Peace Chicku
Our feathered baby passed away yesterday. The pain is too much to bear. Absolutely can't get over his loss. His annoying habits of following me to the toilet every time, biting our toes every chance he would get , flying freely around the house, making a mess everywhere, jumping on our dinner plates is all being missed. How i would do anything to have you back right now. Who's going to ask me repeatedly "What you doing?" only for my response to be "none of your business" and then you started answering you own question "What you doing ? None of your business. God i miss him so badly. RIP boy.

My New Play Gym Project
For the rope ladder i used sisle strings. First i made a knot at one end, then i wove beads through the string. Next i did a loop kind of a knot and slid the dowel through it and tightened it, more beads and then another dowel and it went on. As for the net, i used cotton rope but i would redo it again with sisle rope as it stays put. I wove through some beads through it but next time i'll do natural wood pieces and bells through them. Here's the link on how to make the knots. You'll love making these. I'll put up photos off the current play gym. Alot has changed since. http://www.birdtrick...or-your-parrot/ PS: Be careful with the size of the grids. Make it large enough for the bird to pass through. If you make it too small the birds might get strangled in these.

A Small Question Out Of Curiosity!
I have seen bigger parrot breeds hold things with their legs and then eat them or play with them. Why don't budgies use they legs to hold things.

My Talking Budgie - Someone Stop Him
Please do so. More then welcome. Chickoo doesn't take time to learn either. Infact he picks up words in about 2-3 days and i introduce new words after a couple of week.
