  1. I just realised Dash was only 3 years old when he died. What happened. I have had Chickoo for 1 year now and i can't event think about losing him. I wish he stays for atleast 10 years or longer.
  2. Guys this is chickoo. After months of trying i was finally able to get the perfect video of him saying every word that he can. He speaks english, hindi and punjabi and some budgie gibberish. I wish i could edit the video to point out what exactly is he saying. Current words are: What you doing preety boy Kiss Kiss ...Mwah...god boy chickoo Come Oye kaise hai (hindi) ---- How u doing Tony kidha Punjabi (punjabi) ---- Tony how u doing punjabi Acha bachu (hindi) --- really boy I love you Hope you guys enjoy watching him as much as i love his company. This fella is so naughty. He walks around the house everywhere and i am scared i might step on him but so far all is good. http://s1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff391/budgieowner/?action=view&current=IMG_0792.mp4
  3. You did well Tania. You gave the little guys some much love and care. I looked at some of your videos and feel so teary eyed. He was beautiful.
  4. Congrats on the new edition. Looks like my little baby. I thinks she's a female. She's got a sharp look.
  5. So should i stick with the trill mix or can i use the seed mix i posted above. Someone told me not to buy supermarket stuff bcos they aren't fresh and that's why i wanted to replace the Trill mix.
  6. I am sure you can. I once threw some seeds in the garden and they grew. My budgie loved picking on these
  7. My budgie is doing really well. He's been happy chattering away and oh my poor ears. Today i went shopping at my local pet shop "crystals pet shop " in rooty hill. Only found out that they have an amazing selection of seeds which they sell in 1kg bags. Will be great for me to mix. I will be following this seed mix which was posted on another thread. 50% Canary 15% Jap 15% White French 10% Panorama 10% Red Panican Is there anything else i can add to this seed mix. I also got a mineral block and cuttle fish bone for my baby. Whats the difference between both? I have been feeding Chickoo the Trill Budgie seeds and am now looking at switching over to my own seed mix. I am also thinking of giving him one serve of Vetafarm pellets daily. Apart from seeds chickoo hasn't been eating anything else. Very little fruits or veges, egg shell , boiled eggs etc. He's probably peck at them but will tend to get frustrated. It seem he doen't know how to eat them. He'll just roll these around in he's beak and drop it. Some advice from you lovely experienced folks would keep him healthy.
  8. 5 year old budgie will be hard to handtame. Why so late? Anyhow just let her do her thing. They can still entertaine you a lot even though she's not hand tame.
  9. Try feeding him close to the cage door and then slowly when he hops onto the cage door. Then get him to hop onto your finger and you can introduce him to the house slowly.
  10. Thanks. So those fine lines aren't concerning. I though it was sorta crack lines and i don't want a broken beak. He's also moulting.
  11. My partner drew my attention towards Chickoo and i took a note of his beak. Will the experts here tell me if there is anything wrong with him. And sort of deficiency or is it a bit overgrown. And what can i do to improve this condition. Also i wanted to ask, i currently have a cuttlefish thingy on his playgym which he does nibble on but is there anything else mineral wise to make him healthier.
  12. I am getting good at this.
  13. I think they are all females but not sure if the 3rd picture is of the same budgie in the 2nd picture. Is yes then female and if not maybe male.
  14. Amazing. Unfortunatelt the ones i saw were different. These ones didn't have a large plummage. They retained their pink colour but had yellow underneath the wings. Beautiful.
  15. I was amazed to see not one but 3 cockatoo and galah cross. Their body shape was that of a cockatoo. Lighter greyish wings, pinkish head, not yellow crest but had yellow colouring on the underside of their wings. And these guys scream like mad. I wish i get to see them again becuase next time i am taking a camera with me.
  16. Maybe try getting him out of the cage. My lil one starts screeching when he want's to be let out in the morning. He'll start pacing the perch too. Usually happens when he hears my voice in the morning.
  17. Cant answer your question but she is beautiful
  18. Try gumtree. There are some good breeders (that's what they claim to be) selling hand raised ones for about $40 - 50. Just make sure u know the difference between hand tame and hand raise. Huge difference i think. How to tell male from female. Females bite alot even if they seem absolutely tame at first. Males will bit only if you annoy them but their bites are gentler. If u want an absolute pet keep only 1 ie if you want to train it to talk and just be your baby. If you have both they'll prefer each others company then yours. And when u remove 1 from another they'll always call out. Make sure the it has been weaned onto fruits and veges and isn't only eating seeds. I can officially declare that budgies are the best pets to keep. If only then lived longer.
  19. those calcium things. I have both bells and the cuttle fish bone i think it's called. Some toys would be nice. Try and keep natural perches. You'll see how much more entertaining they are on natural perches.
  20. I hope you are having fun taming just as i am taming mine. It's really best to tame them one at a time. I only have one so he's really relying on me for company. Kaz is right about clipping the wings. You can train them more easily with wings clipped. And another tip i have learnt is to repeat everything everytime you do it. Everytime i offer my budgie food i say "food" and now he really gets it. He know i have food. Still won't eat from my hand but will eat from a bowl if i am holding it. I think i might have spoilt mine a bit too much though. He does not stay in his cage at all. Only goes in to sleep. And i can say this budgie is very smart. I have seen him get of the perch close to 8pm 8.30 pm and head towards the cage room for sleeping time. His whole day is spent on the play gym or just roaming around the house. I have to be careful not treading on him cos he will walk close to your feet at times like a dog. I'll say come and he WILL. I am suprised he's shown so much improvment. I got him a 14 weeks and he's a pet type. Anyhow keep on repeating food, come, up, kiss, don't and they'll pickup in no time.
  21. I think 6 weeks is a bit too young to expect him to play with anything. Is he hand raised or just tame. My chickoo was sold to me as hand raised but i doubt he was. I'd call him more like hand tame when i got him. He was 14 weeks then. Now he's probably 30 weeks old. I have to check. He's only recently started playing with toys and stuff and now having fun doing so too.
  22. I love the first hen and the cock in the second picture. I think the 1st hen is so so preety. The gy selling her must have been Brad pitt to comment as such.
  23. No way i am making this again. As much as it was fun it was hard work. Unless someone pays me like $250+ it's not worth it. The effort and cleaning up after. Materials and the planning are all hard work. Anyhow i am thinking of making another one in the near future but only of natural wood mainly gumtree and eucalyptus branches only. Same layout but natural wood only. Even the floor. Better start looking for good straight even pieces of wood then to add to my collection.
