Just a quick question. I live in Queensland and I am just setting up my budgies to breed. Is this a decent time of year to be setting my budgies up for breeding?

I'm near Brisbane, I've just found best to avoid breeding in summer, for obvious reasons. I just check all water multiple times a day and if it is really humid I give them a light shower from a mist bottle. My budgies love it.

Welcome, nice to meet you this forum is great for learning about budgies, I've only been on here for around 8months and I already feel like I've learnt so much. Everyone on here is so nice and full of knowledge. Again welcome, enjoy learning and taming your new budgie friend. Ps if you post a picture we can tell you if your new friend is male or female.

Make sure you are giving Tinks lots of extra attention. Spend as much time as you can with her and introduce the pair slowly. Can't help you with the feather plucking sorry, I'm only new to budgies.

When she is old enough she will be paired to the DEC I have just recently purchased to produce more DEC's and Recessives. Then she will be moved into the Recessive line. Silly question....... What does DEC stand for?

Hey Everyone Thanks in advance I have been trying to decide what colour and mutation my beautiful budgies are? Hopefully i can post the pictures properly Please humour me as i try to get my head around budgie genetics, as i am only a beginner. Hi, how is your aviary upgrade going? I would love an update.

They were very young. Full black eyes, stripes still on their head right down to their cede, plus they were very small. I believe they are just pet type I was just curious about the ring and if it was the gold, like I said it just looked very Orange. I was actually happy with the pet store they told me they were only 6-8weeks which looked to be right and they said they were only pet quality. I'm glad they seem to be telling the truth. The bird were also being kept in good conditions :-)

Hi quick question, I was in a pet store today buying supplies, when I noticed most of the baby budgies had Orange rings. They only looked young under 6months. Is Orange a new colour or is it called gold but looks abit Orange?

That looks amazing. I can't believe you made that, looks as though your budgies love it. Wish I was handy in some way. Can I ask what type of rope/thread you have used?

I have a hen who looks exactly the same. I thought she was a violet, but now you have me questioning myself.
