  1. Dalek has begun to bite everyone, and its not his loving or grooming nibbles, it is full out biting hard enough to sometimes even leave a nasty red mark. He has even bitten my younger brother twice and once nearly pecked out his eye when he bit him and my brother was doing nothing but watching tv with him on his shoulder! It has gotten to the point where I have even considered putting him in the flight aviary because I can not risk him hurting my brothers any more, I have a brother with slight brain damage and it's just to damn risky to let Dalek out of his cage anymore when Daniel is around. I have said no sternly everytime he bites and put him back in his cage after he does it but nothing seems to be working, he just gets even madder and tries to bite you when you change his food. He is about four months old and I am wondering if this is just a stage or if it is a serious behaviour problem. Please help, I don't want to have to get rid of my beautiful boy, but if this behaviour continues, i'm going to have to.
  2. Hahaha! Oh, that is a fantastic idea. Yes, he loves my charm braclet and happily chews on that for about five minuets and then goes straight back to the glasses. I decided to say no and then move him away today, which he got grumpy about but he soon figured out that if he wanted to stay on my shoulder, the glasses were off limits. So hopefully he'll remember the same thing tomorrow. LOL
  3. Oh my gosh, if only Dalek did that. LOL He gets really snooty at me if I don't leave the music on during the night. He hates the silence, if i'm not in the room or if he can't hear us out in the kitchen, he either has to come out and sit on my shoulder, move his whole cage in to the lounge room or leave my radio on. It's rather awkward when your father yells at you for leaving the radio on and then having to explain 'It's for Dalek' xDD But if the light is on, that's when he gets cranky. LOL If I want to read past his bed time, I either use a very small lamp or torch light. Or just go to a different room.
  4. I started to laugh when he first did it because it was so cute, until mum reminded me how much my glasses cost. xD I think i'll go with the shiny thing in the hair, i'll try and pick one up down the street during this week and hopefully it will work.
  5. Hey guys, Dalek has started to love chewing and hanging off my glasses. I keep telling him no but about two minutes later he'll be doing the same thing. He's actually managed to chip off some or the purple colouring from my glasses, and he's nearly scratched the lens as well. I was wondering if you guys had any tips about how to stop him or how to make them less interesting to him. Ps: Got him to chew on some silverbeet the other day, hasn't eaten any, but it's a step!
  6. Haha, that is really funny. Our birds in the huge aviary hate it when mum starts to clean out the old seed on the ground that they haven't eaten, the quails run around nad try to hord it all in their logs and the budgies sit on the perch making the same kind of noise as your budgies. And yet my budgie Dalek is fine when I clean his cage out (he lives inside in my bedroom) he happily helps push the paper and then shreds in to the new sheets of paper.
  7. Thank you so much. Happy to know what sort he is in case I want to breed with him when he gets older, but for now he's just my spoilt little boy.
  8. Oh thank goodness! I was freaking out cause I grind my teeth when I'm stressed. xDD I'm so glad that he is happy and content!
  9. Hey everyone, Dalek has started a really strange behaviour, he is continously grinding his beak. He sits on my shoulder and grinds it in my ear, which is a rather annoying sound when you are trying to study. LOL He also does it when he's in his cage or half asleep. Is it normal for them to do it or is it a sign that something is wrong? Again I have read so much information on it I am completly confused once again. xD I have read it is a sign of stress, a sign that they are happy and in peace. Just want to get your opinion on it please.
  10. I thnk it was taken with a flash... This is one that was taken without a flash: http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb331/werewolf_heart/SANY0216.jpg And thank you so much for telling me.
  11. Oh gosh, anything but the mobile!!! LOL Having to borrow Dad's work one at the moment cause mine broke, and I don't really know how I would explain that one. :/ Is it normal for them to start getting new feathers and then just suddenly stop? He got grumpy and two little white covered feathers came out, and then they just vanished and now he's back to being his normal cheeky self. Just with a slight more additiude. I'm worried something has gone wrong or that.
  12. After thinking about it for long enough, the curiosity has gotten me. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what sort of budgie Dalek is? So this is his mum: http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb331/werewolf_heart/SANY0111.jpg And this is Dalek: http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb331/werewolf_heart/SANY0210.jpg I can't get a photo of his dad because his mum and dad are back in the nesting box and I can't get in to the aviary to lift the lid and get to them. LOL Hope the photo of his mum will help.
  13. As much as I am happu to say we have bonded, that is just wrong!!! xDD He is around three and a half, four months he hasn't really had his first moult yet. LOL Got two pin feathers through and then nothing, so I'm rather worried about that. :/ I decided to wear socks around him when he was out and he got extremly grumpy and bit my leg then flew up on to the curtain rod where I couldn't get him. He is smarter then I thought. LOL I'm now just leaving socks off and saying no and moving my foot everytime he nibbles it or chatters to it, much to his hatred, but I soon distract him with his play gym or something else. Hopefully he'll grow out of it, and if not, well as long as he's happy I won't mind. LOL
  14. okay, for the past couple of days when ever I let Dalek out of his cage he flies to my foot and chatters away and nibbles it and rubs his neck against my toe as if my toe was grooming him. It's really weird because when ever I move my foot he follows it and puffs himself up and snuggles against it. I am wondering if tehre is anyway to break this behaviour or if I just have to go with the flow and hope he grows out of it?
  15. Oh he is such a cutie!! Reading this has reminded me of the 'joy' of keeping a budgie. LOL Um... Just a question, when Dalek starts flirting with everything (Hope to gosh he doesn't do it soon! xD), if he does anything with anything in his cage, how do i clean it? Do I just need to wipe it away or clean the whole thing with warm water?
  16. Hmmm... Might go raid the beetroot and give it to our budgies. xD Does it have to be drained or fresh or can it be out of a can?
  17. okay, that is really funny as! I have met teenagers like that (I am 18 and sometimes get tarred with the same brush because I have friends like that.) I love that she actually believed that you could have a pink budgie, though I must say, I would love to have one. LOL I hope dads precious white budgie doesn't do this if we get coloured mineral blocks!
  18. Hey, welcome to the forum! Hope you get many babies from your breeding adventures.
  19. Hey everyone, it has happened. Dalek has started his first moult, he has two pin feathers coming through and he is starting to get really grumpy at everyone and snuggling me like crazy. If anyone has any advice on any vitamins, signs that things are not going right, what to expect from his behaviour or any other knowlage I would love to know it. I have already stocked up on white pepper and stolen mums tweezers so if anything goes wrong I can deal with it straight away. I have read as much as I can on the internet, but they are pretty vague on what to expect and that. I am really nervous as he is my little angel and baby boy and I want him to get through this process with as little pain as possible, and some pictures look really painful. :/
  20. I have been trying to get Dalek to eat other things apart from seed. I have tried putting some lettuce in his cage near his food, and he dragged it in to a corner and ate his seed, I have tried to give him some grapes and he squished it with his foot and then ignored it, I have shredded some carrot and put it on top of his food, he dug under the carrot to get the seed and then ignored it. Please can anyone give me some advice on how to get him to eat veggies and fruit? The birds in the aviary love veggies and fresh fruit, their favourite thing in corn. But Dalek just seems to hate them all, please help!
  21. They are all lovely! And what a bargain at $10 each! You are very lucky. Love the set up you've got going, if Dad decides to buy more I've got to get one set up soon. LOL But hopefully he'll stop buying for a while and just enjoy the ones we have. xD
  22. okay, I will. It can be a dad and daughter wood work project. LOL As I am not good with saws at all. How many toys do you think it would take? At the moment he only has the two in his cage from above.
  23. The cage you just posted is exactly the same flight cage I suggested...same size and type okay awesome. Sorry for seeming silly with asking, but i've never been good with measurements and I dind't want to go and buy a cage and then be told it's the wrong one. LOL Now I just hope that they have one.
  24. Get the RSPCA on to them as soon as possible! Or if you are in America go to the ASPCA I think they are called.
