Sad about the French moult coming back! Just when you thought it was gone, it came back just to annoy you, Atleast it isn't affecting any other nests.

Looks fantastic. Im just wondering, are those pot plants in the 2nd last picture safe. They look like they could be reached by a budgie. It may be the angle. I just wanna make sure they don't eat anything poisonous and later come on to find a post in the memorial section.

Sorry, I couldn't see a hand holding it or something like that. I looked it up afterwards and yeah it wasn't a eucalyptus, but it was getting late and I forgot to post in the morning. I think though I've given my birds that and no probs

I'm pretty sure my dads got the same plant. If so then yes. It doesn't have a little tag?

Do they know anything about sexing? Many just say blue for boys pink for girls. A younger budgies cere is not blue and most are pink purple for boys and girls have a white ring around the nostril. I have only found one petshop that actually sex budgies right.

  14. Oh thanks nerwen! What would you suggest then for fern? Are you saying for a lacewing to work it would have to be lacewing cock x cinnom hen? What TCB colour would you suggest for poppy, Yellow or white?

  17. Hi! I have as some of you know 6 budgies in my aviary outside, 4 of which are paired and very happy. But the other two aren't. They don't hate each other, they just bicker a bit. I would like to of course have them paired together, but I can't always have everything go to plan. I'm thinking of maybe next year buying 2 more budgies to be paired with my two that haven't got mates. My cock, fern, is a Cinnamon, Grey-green. And my hen, poppy, is a dominant pied, sky blue, opaline, cinnamon. I would like to know what mutation would best go with each of them. My cobalt violet factor cock was meant to breed with poppy and I was told those 2 would make some visual violets. Would a cobalt be sutiable for poppy? Would it have to have violet factor? What about any other mutation? My cock, fern, was meant to breed with my light green opaline hen. I really like Lacewings and i've heard somewhere that cinnamon can help with the marking of them. Would a lacwing be suitable for fern? if so, a white lacewing or yellow lacewing. What about any other mutations? Any info would really help as Ive tried searching for ideas but get a bit confused with exactly why eg, a) budgie, would get paired with b ) budgie. Thanks, Tay Lol, sorry. I also really like the Texas Clearbody variety. (I think its TCB?) Would poppy or fern go well with a TCB?

I am gonna ask my parents if I can join the Eastern budgerigar Society, in Melbourne. I would just like to know if anyone on here is a member because if I am able to join, I think it would be good to sorta know someone. I think joining a club will improve my knowledge and I also wanna know what they think of my budgies. Especially bing and peppa as I know Splat said how nice they were. thanks!!!

Isn't 63g a bit heavy? I dunno, it's just my exhibition size 8 yr old male is just over 50g. Or is that just baby fat?

Also if they do bond, make sure they don't get to far ahead with themselves and breed. If the hen is about one year she could be under, and you shouldn't breed with any under one year. If she is over than she is okay.
  22. My budgies have fruit or veg everyday. Be careful as watery veg like lettuce can sometimes upset them. No nutrition just water. Also wash them before feeding. There could be chemicals unless there organic with no pesticides. Good luck!

I just use bowls on the side of the aviary. It's not plastic but it ain't metal, it is sorta metaly looking but really strong. In the summer I add an extra red plastic one in so they can splash about, most of the time it's used for drinking though.
