great breeding season so far Kaz hope you get more of the same type, i think that Mac is my favourite, i just love the grey ones. hope you have as good results next time they breed.

okay thanks jimmy ans Kaz ill keep that in mind. i just need to get the breeding box cage ones but i will not put in the box. any thing else i should do. also the budgie in my picture is NOT the hen, it was just a hen that i lost a while ago.

is breeding your full time job. i mean do you sell some of your budgies. Kaz do you know whether you can get the breeder cages ( wooden ones with nestboxes) at the fish and bird place? also Kaz how do you add pics

thanks for the info, i have about 90 dollars that i havent put in my bank so i might buy one of them, do mating pairs that you can buy have a better chance of chicks.

cool thanks Kaz, i want to save up money for a couple of individual cages for breeding just like in setting up a breeding box forum, how much are they, i will ask for them for christmas presents if i cant save enough money by then. i am really dedicated and grateful for the advice, i will do as much as i can to make my budgies happy. i bought a budgie from fish and bird place and he is really great, i can get him to perch on my finger, he is a beautiful cobalt.

Kaz, i first got my birds about 4 years ago from birdworld but they died and i got the new budgies about a year and a half ago from a place called fish and bird place and i think its in bottle grove or something. my dad and brother are helping me breed. if the hen does not feed the chicks i will take other breeders advice and try to feed them myself. i want to breed budgies because i love animals, i look after my budgies very well.

thanks i do have another box that is not currently in there. do you reckon i should throw out the eggs like Dave Mcminn said. the hens been sitting on them for approx 16-18 days

i have 2 breeding boxes both at the same height,.

Dave Mcminn, my budgies are not young and my avairy is three metres long and a metre wide, there is at least a metre and a halves distance between the breding boxes.

the birds are not that young ive had the hens for nearly two years and got the cocks about two months ago when they were already mature adults.

i have 4 birds and yes the hen is a first time mum. i am not sure how old the hen or the cock are. this is the first time she has layed eggs. also can budgies have chicks all year round or just specific months.

okay thanks, i have one other hen but i dont know that she well be a threat, she mainly sits in her own breeding box dreaming of the day!!

thanks kaz and sunnie. sunnie, i would hold the egg to my ear but the hen is sitting on it and im afraid if i try to get an egg it will reject it.

i just have one big avairy so i didnt know they were going to pair up. also i know how to candle but how do i do it if the hen is on the eggs

okay her cere is still brown and she looks the same as she always is , she was thin when i got her so i think that is just the way it is. would i startle the hen if i put my camera in and took apic? no i have not candled the eggs because she has been sitting on them and i didnt wan to disrupt.

i don't have another nest and what should i be looking for to see ailing. also would a hen still sit with infertile eggs for 18 days like mine has?

i know, what does the peeping sound like, is it more high pitched than the adults?

thats okay sunnie. thanks for the reply dellouisa, i am so exited about my first eggs, i run outside like very two minutes and stare at the breeding box in my avariy, i know it will never happen but i keep expecting to see a little head poke. fingers crossed

How about we post pics and info about our new chicks instead of talking about the depressing stories of the ones weve lost. the main reason i have started this is because i got my first ever eggs a few weeks ago and the posts of chicks dying are just making me pesimistic about mine. okay post away
