Combination Pieds
Wow, bizarre!! So are we also saying that there are no such birds as double factor dominant pieds? I have a skye cock bird who is nearly white with one black eye and one with a white iris, and a pink cere, what would he be?

Yellowface Confusion
Are the 2 pieds bred out of the same pair as the other chicks?

Finally Picked Up My Budgie!

Wtb Cresteds, Pieds, Violets

Budgie Gets Scared
Well said

My Rescued Budgie!
And his colour seems to be skye blue, double factor dominant pied (hence the eye differences) and the wing patterning might be spangle or dilute? Kaz will know for sure

Our New Budgie
Hi Louise, the poo on the bum could be from excess feathers, but could be stress also. Did he have any when you first got him? From the vid he looks a little stressed, but it could be some sort of respiratory thing?

Please Help Me Determine The Gender Of My 5 Budgies
Thanks to all who answered my question. Sorry KAZ but it was just a gift and i dont have any idea about the nestbox and the age of the birds. i did remove the nestbox right after i saw your reply. Thanks for the advice. By the way the green budgie on the 2nd photo has a light blue color under his/her cere. The color is not that visible. Is she still a she? Yes because it has white around the nostrils

Our New Budgie
I didn't mean to offend anyone, sorry if I have. Just that a baby handreared is much more suitable as it thinks it is human, and yes you play god when pairing birds up, but they still have the company of thier own kind. IMO taking away mirrors etc is trying to force a bird to bond, a baby HR you would'nt have to do with because it would be all over you from the get go. I really don't think my comment was random at all! Anyway good luck.

Loss Of Flight Feathers
its not french moult and budgies DO moult more than one flight feather at a time..................I have many budgies that can attest to that. I have never had a parrot of any kind moult more flights than it can handle not to fly properly, could be more than one, but certainly not enough to stop flight, if this happened they would die in the wild, I doubt that domestic budgies would have evolved to drop all the flights (or enough to stop flight) in the relative short time of domestication? Maybe i'm wrong? but maybe other underlying problems cause this to occur?

What Mutation Is This
Your talking about the blue pied that resembles a rec pied right? Maybe it's a combination recessive and dominant pied? Or DF dominant pied?
-
Loss Of Flight Feathers
Parrots never moult more than one flight at a time, if they did they would not be able to fly and would soon become extinct LOL. Looks like FM to me (from what reaserch and pics i've seen)
-
Finnie's Latest Chicks
So that means that both parents had to be split recessive pieds!

Tweetaville March 2012

My Babies(Budgie Pics)
Yep a little rosa bourke..... Funny we had budgies and rosa bourkes in an aviary once, people would always comment on how pretty the pink "budgies" were hahaha

Our New Budgie
Personally I would never try to force a bird into either bond with me or nothing for the rest of your life your choice LOL (sorry to sound dramatic long story) BUT he is a bird who knows he is a budgie, so will forever want to be with other budgies. If you want the best pet posible get a hand raised baby who has been human fed since a chick, or at least one that has just weaned. Maybe you could get him a girl, let them have chicks then raise one of the chicks for your friend?

Does Any One Know How Modifying Genes Work?
Is the mother a YF dom pied?

Do I Have A Double Factor Spangled, Or An Albino Bird?
Wow, what a nice bird! I am sure I can see a faint yellow glow on some pics? I saw some albinos at a pet store recently, and they had the same effect but blue?

About Violets
Thanks What about skye violet (sf) x same? I'm just trying to figure out the best pairings with what I have ATM. The pair I posted on here way back when didn't breed for me The hen laid and laid, but never hatched out any chicks? After speaking to the breeder he was kind enough to let me return them. Since then I had to move etc so left the violet pied thing on hold, I have just set up a nice aviary for a few pairs, and have just got some new birds

About Violets
Just a few questions.... *can violet be passed on if only one bird carries the violet factor, eg- Syke blue violet factor x cobalt hen? *Will DF violets produce all violet young? * If yes to the first question do all non visual violets carry the violet factor or only a percentage? or any?

Combination Pieds
What about the relationship between clearflight pieds and dompieds? Could it be possible that CFP's are just lightly marked dominant pieds?

My First Pair...... Are Here!
This is the cock bird The other 2 of the pair what do you guys think? So here are the $200 pair! Did I get my money's worth? LOL I think they are awesome anyway, went to another breeders place, his violets were alot smaller, and not as brightly coloured, So I decided on these guys....... got to think of some names for them They are in love already, haven't been with the opposite sex since in the nest!
