is the behaviour of biting holes in eggs usally related to colony breeding?

i have a budgie that i got from my grandparent when they gave me there aviry a few years ago and they dont know how old she is. one time i placed breeding boxes in the aviry and she started laying eggs immediately but she was to busy making sure that no other hens could take any of the other nest so all she would do is bite holes in the eggs a throw them out, so i did a test on if the hen will throw them out regardless of the number of nest boxes but still in the aviry and she did. i have never tried breed her separately with the concern that she mite go nut on the male. Should i try to breed her?

how do i know if the budgies know theres a nest box when its hanging on the out side of the cage. i have never used external nest boxes before so do i need to encorage them in since neither have ever laid eggs before or do they just know?

the females have crusty brown cere's but i have just noticed the one of them has a tint of blue on the edge. both males have a blue cere that becomes lighter towards the middle and non of them are molting. im not sure if they know that there is a breeding box, non of them have breed before but they are all over 1 year old.

it has been 2 weeks and i havent seen them go into the breeding box, should i wait longer. by the way i made the perches front to back.

its not actully a black sheet, its a clear plastic. it is 5.30 in the morning and the roof is clear too it has sun light from 7am till 4pm

im going to get 2 proper cages and nests tomorow

well they appere to be in breeding condition, she has a brown cere and his is blue. but the cage they are in is probley on the small side and the nest is internal and on the ground

should i try to breed pairs that have failed before?

oh no i ment the first cage

so is the cage the problem or is it the lack of space in the cage. if you have that cage can you just cut a hole and get an external nest?
