  1. Yes If you mean sit ontop of each other , No ( too close) Half metre , 500mm 2 per pair .

  3. I just thought Id let you know about my insurance . I have two Cars , a Rodeo and a Colorado . AAMI quoted me $ 1638 for the both if you take off the extras thats $1278 Youi , well after all the BS with details and SMS to my mobile , putting in pins and BLAH BLAH , they were not cheaper and rang me today , Havent checked my Email yet  . Budget Direct total $1018 and great to talk too , cheaper on Greenslip too by $35 All up me Happy Their phone 1800 057 278 , Worth a call to compare .
  4. OUCH!!! :happy-dancing: Wouldn't they still feel it although you're only dippling the tail? they dont feel it , as long as you dont put the whole bird in , Feather only as nubbly said
  5. A Slight infection in the sinus, give your cage a good clean out . See if your bird has lost any weight. Feed good food and veges including carrot, clean water . Make sure the birds can get out of any drafts at night. If your still worried Take him to a Vet.
  6. Looks like your in a tuff spot . Try and find any other bird breeders near you and seek some help. The sulfa drugs will kill cocci in the stronger birds if that is all you got, The best stuff is called Baycox, if you can find it. My Opinion and it is just an opinion as I am NOT a Vet , Double dose the sulfa drugs for two days then back to normal dose. Try and get some glucose into the birds for energy. Best of Luck.
  7. Really, I didn't know this. Why so? Its BS Maesie.
  8. You can buy a cage front that has an opening for the camera ( Buybudgies.com) , no more bars in the shot . Or take them in the aviary.
  9. Ivermic the tail and the tail folicle , also Feather is nearly all protein , so make sure your protein is raised in their diet especially for the birds with weaker feather.
  10. I call it a pain in the ****! Good on you computer , you picked up that , Saved the mods some work
  11. so their is hope for me lol so can i ask the out cross you used this yf hen did you pair her two the father of these boys to get the daughter then paired the daughter back to the father or no???? sorry for the questions just its interesting to see the improvement on birds as you say visually opposed to just hearing results these sorts of threads really help me to understand the bringing together of quality's to produce something great and i really want to get the understanding right before i go trying to build my own line of birds and installing a trate thats unwanted through not understanding the process The Cock bird I put to this hen was not related , What I did was blend Four lines together over two generations. to Get the resulting young birds . The Hen above , I dont really like , she has the Key hole look but she was a big bird , I mean in length and Skeleton frame. My challenge is to pair , the young to the right birds , will see how it goes.
  12. A pretty good summary GB
  13. Throw the eggs away to avoid round three , dont risk the lives of the young for that. I always put all young back in the box at night , reason the older chicks feed the younger ones in the nest , if their on the floor the young ones wont get much from dad . You will need to supplement feed .
  14. I look at wet nest as a serious issue , you need to look closely at what you are or arent feeding the parents . They will need minerals , the chicks have loose droppings because the parents are drinking excessively , check your drinker and see how much they are drinking in a day . Also keep an eye on the parents for condition.
  15. Honestly , there will be no problems with the chicks. But at the end of the day , give her your advice and leave it at that , she will do what she wants by the sounds of it.
  16. Why move the hen out , she would have still been feeding the young in the nest.
  17. If you cant find the Vikron , try F10sc its just another disinfectant.
  18. I use an Olympus E500 . But you dont need a big camera to get good shots , All you need is patience .
  19. The yellowface Cock would have to be the best proportional bird Ive bred , I would like to add a bit more across the back of his head and I would like bigger spots, Not really asking for too much am I .Thanks Clearwing. yes its clear he has got a good son from the dad but looking at unk its in the genetics the width and back scull i do like the son but whats not to say the son was not just a through back in size from the lesser brother ????NOT DISSING YOUR BIRDS MATT IM ASKING A QUESTION HERE IM SURE YOU PAIRED VERY WELL ITS OVIOUS YOUR BIRDS ARE LOVELY ...i just want to know why every one ashums its the hen thats be paired that throughs the good with the cock why cant it be the cocks good genetic linkage :question:and an avrage hen ??GB , Honstly it can come from anywhere. For Novices then secret is , Have a photographic memory , that way you will know what birds are passing on good genetics and the ones that give you nothing but what I call pet shop birds . But if your like me and that photographic memory is not developed . Then get a camera and take photos of them so you can compare and visualize whats going on.
  20. Thanks everyone. So if we are to debate them we need more pics , For starters the sky and the cobalt are nest brothers . Outcross Daughter to Outcross above , Cock bird my line. The mother( out of condition ) paired to a different Cock Produced this young 2010 chick Im am now worn out , I cant believe I went back up the aviary today and took more pics just so you guys can have an informed Debate.
