Colony Breeding
Yes I must also agree with Kaz , I only started breeding last year and after witnessing a fight right in front of me and babies being thrown out by others it was a decision that I made very quickly . Ross

Sad Day
I know of a guy that was working in a roof and lifted a pink batt only to find a 3m python under it so after getting out of the roof quick smart he rang wildlife rescue and they said you catch it and we will come to pick it up . So he said it will be in 100 pieces but he left the house and didn't go back until it had been removed.

Hot Days Are With Us Already!
The idea of the old evaporative coolers is good only if you use them right . If they are used in a breeding room or a enclosed area you need to have the back facing an opening and have a window or door at the other end open , the idea behind the coolers is that we need to be changing the air in the room thus making it cooler , if they are put in a closed room they will only stir up the heat and bring up the humidity . If they are used in a open area this is not a problem . a nother tip is with the portable coolers is to put a toilet float valve in it with the tap only just on as this will make sure that the water is always cool and fresh . if any of you have evaporative coolers in your homes and use your garage as a breeding room get the local cool, ing guy to add a extra out let in there , if you have your breeding boxes under a pergola that is under the same roof as the house you can do the same thing . Sorry for waffling on but as I do cooling as a living I am only too happy to give away my trade secrets. Ross

What A Night Mare
TOTALLY agree!!! It's about the behaviour and this often relates back to the owner's/parents. You can make the same 'uneducated' assumtions about human children too... but just because some parents are bad parents and as a result their children are little 'you know what's' doesn't mean that all children are naughty, disrespectful, and do things they shouldn't. Many parents and pet owners are responsible... they bring their cats inside at night, train their dogs to behave and teach their children to respect others. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. It's also a pity, that the later can cause many people to form opinions of the species as a whole. I'd also like to remind everyone to keep this topic to what it was originally about... many members on here have cats and dogs, and a cat v's dog debate can not be won either way. We all have differnt opinions, so going back and forth is doing nothing but taking this topic further off the original post. So, to go back on topic...How are your birds today? Have they been returned back to the aviary or are you keeping them confined a little longer. I totaly agree I have had cat and dogs and for now I will just stick to my birds.RossHow are your birds now Splat

What A Night Mare
Don't take it personally Kaz as you are one of the minority that does the right thing , I also have trouble with a dog thats let out of a night that leaves poop on my lawn , if I find out the owners they will end up with it at the front door one night. Ross

What A Night Mare
I used to work with a fellow who had a neighbour that let his dog wander all night so 1 night at 3am he rang them up and said to get their dog , with the reply its not mine so my friend said then you don't mind if I shoot it , well the lights went on the dog was called and never outside of a night again. ps I am a animal lover of all kinds but they must be under control.
