i agree with liv.. we love to see photos and some guys might be able to tell you some info about the birds...if they are old enough or not and all that stuff :question: and along the way we can show you how to breed and notice these things... here are a few checks you can do before you reply... With some varieties you can tell how old the bird is....if the bird has full black eyes, or the bars along its head are extending all the way to the nostrils or cere... this is a sing of it being a few months old...Some varieties such as recessive pieds,have allblack eyes through out their life... If the fleshy part of the nostrils is blue, its a boy, if it is nutbrown its a girl . If the bird has neither of these colours either the bird is young or the birds variety is special ... Hope this helps in some way but it would be nice to ahve some photos!!! By the way welcome to the forum! and lilbabybudgies has a good point... things like scaly fqace and stuff should be checked... you can search the forum for information on such illnesses or type it in google

Yay!!! Pair 2 has a little pink bub with its egg tooth still and a few seeds in its crop!! Pair three now have 5 eggs!!! and the Lutino from pair one has laid an egg off the perch and it diidnt have a scratch so i placed it in Pair threes nest in hope that it will hatch... very excited....

i did a bit of reasearch on the symptons.... it interested me on what caused this to happen. I found a story which was similar to yours, only before the budgie swelled and vomited it seemed in perfect health, this one didnt vomit, and he was panting a bit.. i found out that that froth could be the bird vomiting. In the story the bird died after being placed in the cage at the vets, maybe because of a bit of stress... I hope this helps but i am sorry if the information is wrong, i got it from the internet and the story could have been a different thing, it just sounded similar...

I have to say this is a great forum!!! Had my dad said i couldnt sign up i wouldnt understand as much as i do now.. i have learnt about how giving birds the right vitamins and ensuring the health is top notch.... how to tell a colour...Stratagie for problems with nests... honestly this is the BEST FORUM EVER!!!!!also i have learnt that colony breeding isnt very goood...i will have to tell my parents :question: One day i would like to be a proper show breeder....its one of my dreams and i hope it comes true..nothing will stop me

i am quite sure because there wasnt any blood, and there wasnt before that any hens trying to get a good look inside. Also the day before i took the Lutino away so she probably feels threatened being left by herself

im not sure if i agree thats a recessive pied.... but i sort of see why i could think that.. On the first picture on the side of foofie there seems to be a small dark patch there, and that colour is olive green. Its a very nice bird.

Pair 5 and Pair 4 have both laid another egg!!! its the first time the pied has laid over five eggs aswell... The grey hen in Pair one has thrown out the eggs so i have now put her in a different cage and the mating pair, the last photo has settled in one of the nests Very excited.... im expecting pair 2's eggs soon to hatch
