  1. okay thanks Rainbow that what I was thinking would be long enough. I will take one one and the next tomorrow like you said. She isn't realyl sitting on them just when she is in the box, other times I see them halfway on the other side of the box and they are getting cover in poop, like most of the box :(Laughing out loud): I'm planing to clean that soon too. and add some more sawdust. Oh and either from what I can tell look grey but I knew before one was clear when te egg was still clean.
  2. ghah I don?t remember much about sour crop but I thought it was something the parents got from regurating (sp?) a lot??? okay well about the little lad I would just feed him until his crop looks full. He will look very small compared to the others for a while yet, my youngest one (fourth) still looks 1/4 of the size of his eldest brother. What do you mean "picking at the baby"? Was he hurting it or just trying to move he or check him over? I'm not at all sure about keeping him warm, are you putting him back in the box after been feed? The parents might take over after a while if they are feeding others I think you have a better chance at that than others.
  3. okay I'm sure lots around here know of Freckle and her new family, But what I need to know is How long should I wait before taken the two eggs that didn't hatch out? If I'm right one is two weeks overdue (I belive it's the first egg) and the second is a week over, (the last one) Freckle is still tucking them under her when ever she is in the box so I was wondering if that was stoping her from starting the cycle again and starting her second clutch. But I don't want to leave them too long in fear of making the babies sick or something.

yeah now that you say that, I can. In the third is stands out quite a bit. But is that because of the yellow/orange cloth under him/her? I love looking at these picture, and I can't wait for my babies to start to look like that

First off accually seeing them mate is hard, budgies don't seem to like a crowd, who would? (Laughing out loud). They mate early mornings. 8 days is not long at all for a first time mom. If she has breed before then eggs should be comming soon but first timers take a bit longer any where up to three weeks. I'm not sure about the cere change. She may be coming out of condition for breeding which is the only reason I know of the brown going to cream, but I've never heard of it happening so fast like that. And yes I think if you wait a bit longer you should get eggs.

well I would argee with you there that s/he looks to be white but then I thought the lutino came about once all the green had been breed out of the bird. and a white bird was when all the blue was breed out. So to me I wouldn't think the two yellow birds would have any genes for blue in them. I guess you will just have to wait a bit longer. edit: I just read my gene book and it said you need the blue gene to remove the yellow and the lutino gene to remove the grey pigments to get an Albino. I'm not at all sure of clear-eyes but maybe he was split and still held the blue gene?

If you remove the box then it should stop the nesting behaviour and she should reutrn to the normal little one that would sit on you shoulder. How many week's is weeks? One book of mine told me it could take from 8 days to three weeks before eggs show up. After that time you can assume something is wrong with either partner and take the box away. If you don't know of her age then she may be too old. It sound like both you and the two budgie got lucky when you found each other.
  13. I think thats the best cuase of action, you don't want to stress the cute little things out. Did I say before they are very cute little budgies I like the white and blue one (Paul?)
  14. Umm Interesting pics Really I think your best deal is to remove the box or if you have them in an avery take them out and put them in pet cage. They are not to young to breed, just too young to handle the demains of parenthood, you would have sick or dead babies if you breed them now. If you want to breed them wait a few month and but the box back in. The fact of sky in the box all the time is guess she might be just claiming it as hers now, or she is getting ready to lay anyway.
  15. No the pics don't work for me either, make sure you have made the album public so others can see it. Well was she a baby when you got her? Still it would make her only ten mounth if she was and that is a bit young for a budgie to breed. They should be around 12 month of age as everyone says around here.
  16. Bands here are mostly use by breeders and showers. One pets store had their budgies branded and the others don't ( there are four major pet stores in my area) Freckle doesn't have one but Pie does. I got freckle from a Flea market. Now most that sell there have them clumped together in like rusty old cages, shoving in until there is hardly any room, but this guy had the set up of little single boxes with a max of two in each. Clean and well cared for. He could tell me the age, sex (but he got that wrong) and colour of her. But maybe we should get back to the topic? I will think Polly sorry Paul is a guy, most white birds have a pink cere when they are a male. And I agree with epiphany Sky may be too young yet to laid eggs. How long have you had her? do you know her age?

You should be right, if you actually saw it you're better off then most because budgie don't like watchers and so mate early in the mornings, even better that both are mating at the same time. You should expect eggs 8 days after the mating. So you don't have long to wait. Good luck, and hope you keep us up to date.
  18. Polly is a boy. Some colours in budgies make the males have a pick cere instead of dark blue. The most know is the lutino (all yellow). Umm and it does sound as if Polly and sky are paired up and possible getting ready to start family making. Do you only have to the two? Cause if so I would just take the box out if you don't think it is the right time for her to breed. If not well you could take them out and away from the boxes. If you can put some pics up it would help greatly to work out the gender of the two.

How long as it been now? you may want to give him one feed I read that sometimes the parent catch on after that. I don't have any experience this is my first time breeding and I'm not up to that part yet.
  20. that's a pretty bird, I have seen a picture of a violet spangle I thought that was really stunning. Good luck Hath
  21. ummm okay then, well it was just a thought that come to me Thanks for the info.
  22. okay this just came to me and I'm wondering if any here can help me. Is there a difference in the number of egg in a clutch between a first timer and one that has laid before? I'm just asking cause there is such a case in dogs and cats, their first little can be as small as two but the next time it is normally larger.

Is she sitting on the bottom of the cage and not moving about? They are signs of egg binding. Also waved her tail is another sign, if she still has sstrengh she will try and pass it.

I thought you could buy the stand serpartly, so there should be a spot to say no stand thanks. Maybe but it's beena while since I looked at the order form so I might be wrong.

well I read in a book that sometime the male will help with the incubating if the hen allows it. But that doesn't help with the cere colour. Have you got any picture you can put up? That may help.
