Aw they are lovely. Some mornings it is hard to get myself out to work...would much rather stay at home with dog and budgie!

The key to training is always approach the bird in a calm manner and try not to get impatient with them....it took my bird about 3 - 4 months before he started talking so don't expect miracles overnight and do expect to work at building trust and just repeating phrases over and over and over and over. The time you invest in your bird is repaid to you fourfold...they are such lovely little creatures.

Your bird will **LOVE** that bell toy. I put paper on the bottom of my boy's cage (above the wire) and it makes it so quick and easy to clean in the morning...just whip the paper out and put a new one in. I think the set up with cages you are supposed to put the paper underneath the wire so the bird doesn't stand in its poo but I've found my boy doesn't generally stand in it...and he freaks if it is just the wire in the bottom of the cage (for young birds it can be hard to balance and their foot can fall in between the wire)

Aw she's a real sweetheart I tend to find that people who claim they aren't 'bird people', or 'dog people', or 'cat people' just haven't really had much interaction with those species...and once they do, they find that...well, animals aren't so bad and can be downright wonderful.

Can you tell me a little more about this please? My boy is rooting for Australia...even though he is a single bird (let's just say he thinks his toys are his girlfriends)...is it because he isn't getting enough sleep?

My boy does everything in his power to get my attention to let him out....so he'll do somersaults around his branch and almost turn himself inside out ....but the worst is when he does that short run back and forth glaring at me....it is like he is trying to hypnotise me! hahahaha

well, they look like cuties so I'm sure you're itchin to go collect your new baby. it is surprising that it is hard to get hold of one as they are all over oz...but then again, Canada is a different kettle of fish.

Person above me has a photo of a budgie with a larger head than it's compansion and it makes me wonder.....is the smaller head just a younger budgie???
