Tried doing search on topic nothing came up of help I saw... Got frustrated this morning as I took away two overdue and dead in the shell eggs, the thing I have noticed are chicks are fully developed and few days off hatching when they mysertiously die....was from my favourite pair...these two!!! Does this happen alot and you guys just go Oh well... or is there anything we can do do help it from happening or things to watch out for!!! Cheers Dan

Thanks for that..... have seen alot of Gumtree ads here in sydney region, I have always questioned what their REAL motives were!! I also breed Lutino lovebirds and did have someone very suspect call when I advertised some, wanted my address right there and then, said call before you come and I will give it... never responded!! Update: Pair 1 Albino hen + TCB grey cock/ino Has 6 egss only 2 showing fertile Pair 2 opaline Cin pied hen green/blue + spangle pied sky cock Splt these up as they werent bonded at all and see laid 2 eggs, seperated her with no nest and is now in the flight cage.... Pair 3 TCB Olive hen + Normal blue cock 6 eggs ALL infertile and due...am goin to throw out soon and let them go another round Pair 4 Normal blue hen + Normal green cin cock 6 eggs ALL infertile.... split them up also back in flights Pair 5 Res pied grey hen + opaline blue cock HAS 2 CHICKS SO FAR AND OTHER 3 FERTILE ALSO... total of 5 eggs laid Pair 6 Grey green cin normal hen + green dom pied cock Laid 3 eggs and decided to destroy them.... This hen has had a chick in the past and found it dead... wasnt feed, and in the past all her eggs have been fertile but stops sitting with only days to hatching left. Put her down in hopes to foster the eggs but didnt happen as she laid later then others. Nice hen no wonder she was culled.... So all in all same same for me always dissapointments... hoping to rest a few then put down again!!

Hey Fero, mothers tend to attack young when they want to lay again, just try peak and watch inside the nest box with her in it and see if see is attacking them bad, thats what I do. Can you foster the chicks to another nest?? Let other pro's here comment BETTER!!

UPDATE: Pair 2 opaline Cin pied hen green/blue + spangle pied sky cock No bonding at attacking the cock, she layed an egg but destroyed it... def not fertile as not bonding at all.... I have now seperated them, and notice the hen is Pulling off her chest feathers...seems she is stressed, should I not try her again so soon.... Went to a breeder today got new cobalt cock also to pair with her later on.. I think also it was the cage she was in, had her in a wire cage and last time breed well in cabinet cage... I noticed her lil unsettled in that cage...was it the cock?? cage?? or doesnt want to breed... seems well in condition and was showing good sign also in flight cage!! Pair 1 Albino hen + TCB grey cock/ino on 2 eggs 2nd layed 12th Pair 3 TCB Olive hen + Normal blue cock on 3 eggs no fertile as yet...some to early Pair 4 Normal blue hen + Normal green cin cock on 3 eggs Pair 5 Res pied grey hen + opaline blue cock on 4 eggs 2 showing fertile so far

One of my budgies has a wart looking growth on its eye lid...its very tiny at the moment... just noticed, could this be related to mites!!! I treated her for mites few months ago.. Never seen it before... can I treat it at all?? Thanks

I didn't bandage it, was going to but he has stopped biting it and seems to be recovering slow.....been putting savlon on it.....seemed to stop irratation from when I first cleaned with dettol. Funny how serious things seem to happen to my best stock go figure!!! Thanks again for the help!!!!!

One of my cock birds had swollen leg.....due to mites....read through site and I cut it off with no extra damage, but since I cut it an hour or so ago...he is biting the leg due to irratation I think and is now drawing blood all over his leg.....What can I do here but a bangage on????? or leave it!!!!!

I have a hen with one chick about 2 weeks old, its has blood pecks on it from the mother as she also has blood around her beak, she has done similiar before just the previous chick was much older about 3.5 weeks old. I have taken the mother out and tried fostering the chick to another nest with chicks same age, but after awhile a could her alot of churping like it was being attacked, (other hen must see the blood on it) watched for awhile but took it out of that nest and now have left with the father to look after, he looked after the last chick but was older and put on the floor in a container whereas this one is only just feathering up..... Did I do the right thing or ?????????????????? Thanks

OR COULD I LEAVE THE BABY IN THE CAGE ON THE FLOOR IN A CONTANIER AND DAD WILL STILL FEED IT OR NOT???? AND LEAVE MUM LAY IN THE NEST??? I REALLY WANT MORE YOUNG FROM THIS PAIR THOUGH ???? CHEERS
