Do you find within a week that the trays are pretty full? With the perch setup do you have the 2 perches in each side or just the one? i saw a breeder today and he only had the one perch in each cage.

ill have to google so i can see what they look like. do you ever feed them endive?

so basically it isnt worth doing? From time to time i see some breeders with great birds for sale, and they arent asking alot so i thought if the freight costs me $10 extra per bird and i get them at a good price it is worth it. the only down fall is arranging all of the freight etc.

In relation to the dividers, if i find that cause they can see each other birds are flirting with the other cage, i will buy some ply wood and get it cut to size so that it can just slide into the divider. wouldnt cost much to do this as ply wood is cheap. Im pretty sure if you went to mister ply and wood, and bought a sheet and let them know what size it needs to be, that they would actually just them all to size for you and wouldnt charge you anything for doing so. I shall pay extra attention to this. I am going to put mine on wheels to so i can move them around. I shall hang all of my boxes on the side of the cages, so then i can use the large doors for access for the seed. I shall only have to change my seed i would say once a week max, as i bought the metal seed hooper without the catcher. it holds 500grams of seed. What do you put on your drip trays? Newspaper? With having the boxes on the side of the cages it then allows for plenty of light to every cabinet.

Has anyone every freighted any budgies? I am after a hand to find out how you go about this. Any information would be greatly appreciated. What would the price be to freight 10 or 20 budgies on average?

When you say euculyptus branches, do you mean just go to a euculyptus tree and get a small branch with some nice leaves on it and give that to them?Can they get any diseases of the branches? What should you look out for when doing this?Ive always been worried with giving the birds to much greens unless they are feeding young as in the past i think i might have lost some birds due to them eating to much greens in there diet.

Do you clean it daily, and give them fresh water everyday? How long would you have to spend with your birds on a daily or weekly basis having that many birds?

If you put a piece of wood on the nestbox facing the cage to take up your gap it should then sit straight. Mine sit really well and dont need it. also as with MB I dont have a problem with nestboxes and seed hoppers. Have three doors. The slant it cause the bottom goes in closer to the cage, hence making the cage go on a slant. so i need to do something about the bottom of the box. would you suggest just putting the wood down the bottom, or just a screen in the bottom of the box to make it level? I have the same as these cages but the bigger ones that have the dividers in them. Im trying this out to see how it goes having that setup. So they basically have two larger doors per cage, 2 smaller doors for the plastic feeders which i dont use, and a side access per cabinet. Im thinking i shall hang all of the boxes off the side so then i can access the cage via the front. Does anyone have there cabinets on wheels? Is it bad if you have them on wheels so you can move them if you want to vacuum behind them???

Do you change your water daily?so would you give them the livermol the whole way through the breeding process or just when they have young?One breeder told me his birds go straight for it when he puts it in the cage and eat it all straight away as they love it.What does everyone think about endives?

How many breedinf cabinets shall you have in your new setup?

Does anyone else here us the wire cages as there breeding cabinets. I hang them on the outside using hooks, and i notice that they seem to be on a slight slant. has anyone else experienced this and if so did they do anything to change it, or just leave it as is? I find the only down fall with these cages is, that you have to unclip the breeding box to be able to change the seed hooper.

What supplements do you use in your water? Does anyone know what the red powder is that breeders put in the breeding cabinets? Have seen this at a few breeders and cant remember the name of it. Is it needed the whole way through the breeding process or only when they have babies?

What does everyone feed there birds that are breeding in cabinets? What is your feeding routine? Daily, every 2 days or what? Anyone founds anything that helps fatten the young quicker, than the obvious? How long do people keep there babies in the baby cage before putting into avery? What do you feed the babies on whilst in this cage?

Have only met a few people from the Hills branch. Shall go to one of there meetings next year but i have been told they are more of an advanced club, and that Blacktown is a good place for me to start as people shall give me help and guidance. I dont have all of the birds on one premises. they are at 2 location. Jaz do you show your birds? If so how have you gone? Have you got any images of your birds? What sort of birds are you trying to breed? I would love to breed violet pieds. But wanting to just breed pieds in general with great size. Aim is to get a violet yellow face pied.

thats a bit of a hike. Im in Castle Hill.Its only a bit of a hobby for me, maybe in a few years my dad and myself might look at showing them, but at present i want to just experiment.Ive got a different setup, with a larger seed hooper which should last the birds a week, and ive got extra large water containers. Im looking to have a young person come and water,feed and clean them during the week for me every 2nd day.I dont have time to spend in there every night cleaning and feeding. Only thing ill be doing of a night is giving them there greens and ringing the birds. whenever i use my camera the pictures are always to large, so i was thinking this would probably be the case again, and i dont know how to make them smaller.

It all comes down the quality and not quantity. If you can get some good bloodlines going, then you are heading down the right track. i hate it when you have a great cock or hen, and they never take to any bird.

Kaz, has suggested that i introduce myself here as she has advised me alot of people might think im just wanting to purchase budgies to sell as a wholesaler or petshop. this is incorrect. i am just getting back into breeding budgies and am going into partnership with my father. I shall be joining a club, just deciding on which one to join. Shall go to the Blacktown meeting this Friday to have a lot. At present i have 40 cabinets that i am trying to find quality birds to pair up. I am hoping to have 30 cabinets at my place and 30 at my dads place breeding. We are wanting to specialise in Dominant Pieds. So the way i am going to be doing it shall be a good normal to a Domiant Pied in every cage. I do have some yellow face, Lutinos, Albino, Spangles and DF spangles too, just for something different. As im sure everyone can understand it isnt easy finding good quality birds at present. I have alot of great Hens which may sound very weird, but i know they are usually hard to find so when the opportunities came up to purchase good quality Hens i purchased them. How many cabinets do most people here run. Do they find it hard keeping the bird room clean, when having larger numbers? I shall try and take some images of my birds when i get a chance so people can see.

dave, what were warren wilsons birds like? How much was he wanting for them? What area is he located? is it worth the trip to have a lot? Do you know anyone in sydney who is selling good pieds at present?
