Abolsutely!! Snow and hail in winter, bushfires and snakes in summer, the most amazing autumn leaves in fall, and the most lush greens in spring!! Do you love where you live?
  2. I was just reading up on these, its not good news unfortunately, read this thread: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....516&hl=mops
  3. I'm not 100% sure so don't quote me on this, but I think they have internet access over there now. Have a safe trip!!
  4. D'oh, Murphy's law eh, Sunnie? No worries, we'll stand by until you're sure. Thanks very much anyway! cheers Phil
  5. Unfortuantely the story has quite a sad ending with Bimbo passing away on her shoulder after saying "night nights" or something similar. Hopefully mum still has a copy as she typed it up for Granny.
  6. My son was telling my mother last night that we're getting a budgie and my mother recounted a couple of funny tales about my granny's budgie "Bimbo". My granny wrote a story for readers digest about Bimbo many years ago, I'll see if my mum still has a copy and post it here as it was never published. A couple of the funnier storys were: My granny taught Bimbo to say quite a few things, one was "Who's a cheeky monkey then". One day granny was hanging out the washing and Bimbo was sitting on the clothes line when a sparrow landed next to him giving him a bit of a fright. Bimbo turned to the sparrow and said "whos a cheeky monkey then" Bimbo could also say his name and phone number (phone numbers were a lot shorter back then ). Bimbo was accidentally shut outside one day and flew away. Granny and grandad went into mourning and put ads in the paper and rang up the radio stations, but to no avail. About a week later someone phoned them up and asked if they owned a budgie called Bimbo as it had walked up to their front door and they took it in. After about a week he announced "I'm Bimbo <surname> X1686". So the phoned X1686 and Bimbo was reunited with Granny. When they picked him up and took him home he said: "Ooh baby its cold outside" another thing he was taught to say. Now I know budgies aren't that smart, but boy Bimbo seemed to know what to say at the right time. I was only quite young at the time and I can only just remeber Bimbo as he seemed to keep well away from me, probably more evidence that Bimbo was quite a clever little bird.

Yes I read that. I hope it all goes okay for them!

Ah I see, I'm learning so much on here. No a pet is definitely what I'm after. Do you know if any are males yet or is it too early to tell.
  9. Hills replied to Sunnie's topic in Breeders Discussion
ooh ooh me me!! Keep me in mind if you have any male show baby rejects, if your pets are all females. I won't show it (unless budgie owning is as addictive as everyone says) but will give it a safe, happy home

Haha, no worries, good luck bidding!! My wife is an eBay bandit and her advice is only place a couple of bids at the last minute and if you get out bidded, just hold off as they may well send you a second chance offer if they have more than one cage. Post some more pics when you get it

    >This one< Thanks for the headsup Budgielover13!! I did see that but its $60 to post to Adelaide and I'd be a bit worried if it would survive the postage. Great looking cage though, but I'd rather just pick one up from the shops if I could. if I were in Vic, it would be mine!!

Well hopefully (fingers crossed etc), if one of Sunnie's latest clutch turn out to be male, then one of them. She has advised me she has 5 chicks but I haven't heard any more news at this stage. This is her thread showing the parents: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....mp;#entry268910 Eventually we'd like to get 2 males, but want to get one first and try and get it to bond to us before getting the second. (And thanks to this forum I'm full bottle on quarantining and also prepared to get a second cage if they don't get along).

That's easy for you to say! Cheers, I hadn't thought about their toes getting caught, but I'll keep it in mind when checking it out.

Thanks, I think all the bars were parralel parrelell paral... pointed in the same direction, but I'll check. Yes the flight area was exactly the same, just had the arches on top.
  18. Hills replied to Hills's topic in Cage Discussion
Haha, I'm exactly the same way, however as we're going to wait for a budgie from a breeder, we're not in that much of a hurry to get the cage.

I went into Tam's shop today and they only had one cage left and I couldn't see a matching stand, although I didn't ask, they might have had more out the back. But... they did have another cage and matching stand that caught my eye. It was basically the same size at the bottom, but had an arched top. (one big arch and 2 smaller arches each side). Now I know that top area is useless to a budgie (and I know I'm focusing too much on the appearance of the cage ) but wouldn't that be just as good for the budgie as a rectangle cage given that it has the same flight area at the bottom of the cage? As I said before, I'd still like the cage to be an attractive piece of furniture, but without sacrificing and of the budgie's creature comforts. Or should I just pull my head in and get a plain rectangle cage and stop being so petty )

Thanks Neats, I couldn't see any details about postage on that site. I'll shoot them an email. I saw that other cage on Dealsdirect, but it looks as if it only comes in white. I'd prefer a black cage as white seems to make it harder to see the birds.

Excellent, thanks all. Tam has given me the details and the shop is near my work so I'll check them out tomorrow.

Cheers Tam, PM sent. That cage looks perfect!

Go fish, I'm perfectly comfortable with my laziness  If you could change your career, would you?
  25. Hills replied to Hills's topic in Cage Discussion
and thank goodness I do!! The cages in town were about the same size for around the same price, they just didn't look quite as solidly built. I actually quite like this one, but discounted it after reading the FAQs as its too high and not wide enough, nor does it have the flat roof, but thought it would look like a nice piece of furniture in the entry lobby where he will be located when inside. http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/bird-aviar...rs-46-43-140cm/ The hunt continues, I'll check back with you before purchasing!
