  5. yes and no i think i have to re write in simpler turms my question as i seem to be getting all things confussed sorry this is my trouble with my memorie and putting things into proper context so i will try again the dad is skyblue norm /opaline /rec pie the mother is opaline the son is opaline now the son was placed with a clear flight pie not a dom pie all chicks but one have iris rings the one who does not looks to be rececive the others clearly are clear flighted pies is the mum split rececive also or is the father split rececive or both the sky blue normal /opaline was with a rececive pie hen their chicks were rececive pie and one opaline so she was opaline rec pie i know all this its the son i want to know about i think from what you are saying elly that as he is with a clear flight i will get all pies regardless if he is split pie or not the mum is probbly split rec as well as clearflight and the cock just normal i guess to see if he is rececive i will need to test breed him with a rececive pie or a split rec pie to get a final awnser thanks elly you helped some what if you can grasp what i just wrote id love it if not i just give up on this qwery

  10. now thats what im talking about sailor a single factor golden face and explained so simplisticly
  11. what do you mean mate like do you bred it as in your asking people or do you breed it as in how does it come about
  12. i have only just seen this thred lib you have done a great job that cock is so beautiful it just shows you what a diffrence just having a careing owner can make to any bird but you have put in lots of time and effort their well done ps off topic (thanks for help with the young cocky its kicking goals)
  13. trish you are doing a wonderful job i really admire what your doing for these birds and by sounds of it other animals i love the idea you have with turning your birds over to your children i fully belive children who grow up with a pet learn to love and exprese better they learn responsability in many diffrent forms and learn to cope with life more readily and deal with things with a more wider understanding keep up the good work mate i aplord you ( i hope thats the right word )
  14. i did clearly state what pies i used in detail just to refresh a cin opaline colbolt clear flight pie and a opaline cin sky rececive pie its the cock birds im questioning though please read what i last posted carefully it has every detail and what i exactly want to know i apreshiate you took the time to look wolf as im sure you will know exactly the awnser as would many others bar me lol
  15. You beat me to the question jimmy Im afraid after reading pete's article so many times in order to write these posts that now i can only think along the lines of his writing haha. In saying that, i would probably label generic blues birds differently than he has. As always, its difficult with some photos to judge the vibrancy and/or spillage of the yellow. well i was taught two diffrent things their is golden face type 1 and goldenface type 2 basiclly that is gf single factor gf double factor k, single factor golden face works like the yellow face type 2 mutant exept they are seperate geneticlly the diffrence is in the colour of the yellow a golden face is a deep butter cup yellow and the yellow face type 2 is dark yellow but still not golden hence the name in a single factor the it (the yellow) blends down and into the body colour making the blue turn either a deep emarald green or mint lime green depending on weather the bird is sky blue or colbolt in a grey bird the type 2 yellow turns the grey deep olive green mauve is somewhat the same only not as olive more moss green the bird will be totally green after all molts eg this bird is a sky gf single factor she is fully green no hint of blue bar mabe near cheeks her brother is gf2 double factor he his only part green hence the name par blue. so goldn face the coloure goes into the wings and the lower body stays blue this is double factor single factor the bird turns green of verious shades depending on colour single factor yellow face the birds colour does not change and only the face is yellow type 2 the birds face is yellow not buttercup just deep yellow its body like a double factor golden face gets a slight bleed but lower stays its original colour i have to go but i hope that helps i will take all updated picture and if i must i will do a photo of young bird then mature bird
  16. well yes and no this is what has confussed me i know already what you just wrote but... what im trying to work out is this i have two cock birds cock 1 ; is a sky blue normal split opaline cock 2 ; is a mauve grey opaline cock (the sky blues son ) the mother of this opaline mauve was identical to him also mauve opaline k , i put the father with a sky blue cinnimon rec pie hen out come was 4 pieds and one opaline no cinomon .... so i can rule out /cin so to get that rezult the skyblue normal /opaline would also need to be split rec pie thats what im told is this true .. also if this is true is it posable that the opaline cock (his son from a diffrent partner not the pie ) is also split rec pie ? cause when he was placed with a cinnimon opaline colbolt clear flight pie the out come was five pied chicks all clear flight exept one who also seems to be lighter markings exept still not cin he is rec pie all chick have iris rings but he still is showing all signs of being a rec pie all i want to know is could he of recived a rececive pie gene off his dad who is only / himself if the mother was but only opaline if not how did i end up will all pies one also being rec pie if he is but opaline some one please explain i need to work this out
  17. okay so i want to know as this confusses me to get pied chicks from a pair you must have a pied pair or a pied hen and a split pie cock and if this is so then can the split pie gene be carryed through to male and female chicks being only rececive or not if ...... the pair in first place was a normale split opaline and a opaline hen then their chicks were one opaline cock one normale cock then the normal who was split opaline was placed with a rec pie hen out come being 4 pied chicks one opaline so i have been lead to belive this cock also must be split for pied is this true and if so his opaline son from first pairing was placed with a pied hen the out come being all pied chicks five in all is he split pied also or not whats the story with this and please dont refure me to the tabbles as i cant grasp it please put it in worded convisation it seems to sink in that way cheers
  18. they are all lovler mate i do like her best though
  19. i agree with dave only i would add that violet and mauve are classifyed as being in the blue catagore so a violet or mauve is possable but mostly par blue skys and cobolts i would guess
  20. okay firstly i owe rip an apolige i got it backwards the golden face 1 the single factor form creates an even deep sea green colour (in colbolt) lime green ,mint in sky birds In double factor form the head is golden and the yellow bleeds into the upper portion of the body colour creating a dark blue green while the lower portion retains the blue colouring . the spread of yellow into the body becomes more progresive with each molt i find after the third molt you can be sure which typeing you have for defenent here are some my yellow face birds remembering i am not as knolagable with my knolage so only going by what books say and from test breeding knolage okay first my gf2 colbolt . his fater is a gf2 sky rececive pie /opaline mother a opaline sky 1f violet spangle ,cinnimon wings next his father now his daughters to a gf2 sky dompie i found he is /opaline and cin the picture bellow both same clutch bird from above and sister colbolt gf2 dompie this above bird sister from second clutch and the bird bellow my df dom sky yf2 not golden face yellow face two the mother of these three i will post some pics of my cinnimon yellow face chicks from the same birds they are type 2 like mum not golden face have to up load to photo bucket so dont hold your breath i will post my type one yellow face and my type two yellow faces then also this next one gf2 rececive pie i dont kinow what mutation only that she is opaline and i think grey green this next bird is the gf2 sky rec pies chick from another hen its also gf2 sky
  21. In australia you only need to worry about YF M1 i.e. Creamface and GF i.e. Goldenface The only reason Australia does not have the YF M2 is beacuse the government would not allow imports into Oz. Sure birds were smuggled both ways or from Oz to Europe and then to the UK. Not too many birds came from the UK into Oz. Yes JB a df YF M1 is a white face bird. Ken Grey's book Rainbow Budgerigars and constituent varieties clearly states the differences between the yellowface mutations. If you can get a copy of this book you'll will find it a worth while investment. Both YF M2 and GF can be found in the double factored form. Below is a picture of one of my DF Goldenfaces I bred. Although it is hard to see as the quality of the picture is not the best, this bird does show some yellow on the back of the neck and there was some still in the wings and tail feathers and very slightly in the body. This is normal and will vary depending on the depth of the Sky, Cobalt, Violet or Mauve colouring as these themselves vary from bird to bird. Its called variation. All species must have variation in order to survive. If Australia has no yf2..then a bright yellow faced bird with yellow all through the wings markings, head, and body (making it a sea green colour) is what exactly? A single factor gf? So, let me see if I got this right. We (australia) have no yf2. So we only have yf1 (double factor, causing a white face bird, and single factor, which is a cream faced bird with little to no yellow in the body) and gf (double factor, which is as the picture above, and single factor, which is like a yf2, a sea green coloured bird as all the yellow goes throughout the entire body)?? Correct As I already said in my post in reply to your thread she is a double factored Goldenface. The definations of which yellowface is which is not decided by the confines of the yellow. Here is another photo to ponder over. This cock is a single factor Goldenface Cobalt Grey(sf). He shows a slightly paler yellow face because of the family line he belonged and the fact he was a Cobalt Grey he shows only a small amount of yellow suffusion As I keep mentioning variation. I had a particular family of Goldenfaces that excelled bright yellow faces. They could be the brighter yellow spoke of by Ken Gray. I had another line which I would say could well be like the YF M2 of the UK. All my GF did have one thing in common though I had managed to breed and beautifully natured line of birds many of which went on to produce the best pets some of which even went on to be good talkers. It's all in the genes. im sorry rip but as beautiful as he is magnifisent i think he looks to be a yellow face type two as he is not got a golden face the other bird i agree on your prognossic lol as you can see i am not big word able he i would say is only type 2 mutant goldenface 1 is the same as him but in my experiance deeper yellow i say m2yf as he has the yellow through and down the wings but if it was golden face 1 the yellow would not suffuse all along his body but hay i dont know just what i would class him hay do you sell that book you mentioned and where can i get it ps he is im sure what you classed him as he is your bird but i belive his yellow to be to light kazzy has a fantastic goldenface boy type 1 and he is so much more golden hence the name.. thats whey i beg to differ as i said goldenface is buttercup yellow thats one thing i do know the rest welll im reading the book i got trying to update lol will get some picture soon as i can of my golden faces my one and only type 1 yellow face my type to mutants and see what you call them compared to me will be funn as everyones judgment verys this subject sucks but i love it ... got to go now bro getting mad lol see you all next chance i will have pics nite all  and please dont think i know more than you as i dont :tut_tut: :flowers:
  22. dont take me wrong or think im being what ever but if you have sick or unhealthy birds then would it not make more sence to just despose of these birds if after treatment the same reacurs myself if birds get unwell which to tell the truth is a rareaty (in my case )then i keep them well away from all others ( as do we all )but if they do not improve then i despose of them (not kill them) move them on and never to someone intending to breed i also do not like to use antibiotics unless vet directed have you had your birds randomly tested for this whatever you said they may have ? or are you just treating them cause they may have it ? i would not treat birds that dont need treating but thats my unwanted but givein opinion
  23. good point mate we are all right just behind times i was brought up with old school eg sea foam green(for sky blue yf2) and aqua marine (for a colbolt yf2) harlequin(for a sky blue gf recessive OR SHOULD I SAY danish hee he pie their are so many changes since i started breeding 25years ago almost or their abouts and i got taught the latest to date show terms and colours i am lost nowdays so stick to what i know my belief was that the yellow face and golden face is diffrent anything with yellow in or on its wings type two pos gf depending on colour depth anything with yellow going through wings and into chest type 2 anything sea foam or aqua marine type two golden face as the yellow is so concentrated the whole body changes these are what the rainbows are made with that rip was referring to that chick that did them first (sorry not good remembering names ) and gf a buttercup yellow with the wings slightly affected but only just yf1 only pale yellow face also known as cream man i dont know but i just class anything yellow faced as depending on depth and intill i need to know for genetic reasons leave it that way if i need to know and dont know the background i breed to a white faced bird i know is no way carrying yellow anything takes two generations some times three but i get a definant answer and well thats me if anyone could post definant pics of each type i would love them as although i get the right bird in the end it takes years to define their proper typing pushing back my end desire of out come as i have taken guess before and was wrong breeding a bird i did not desire although still beautiful puting my hen out of use to me for a long span setting me back so although i love yf i hate them... what is needed is pics of defenent yf birds with known genetic history placed up so we can see the defenant different as it is very defenant once you have seen them all i was no help was i
