  1. What do you think in the terms of giving the meds via crop VS via water/
  2. What renee said. I understand how hard it is for you all SW. But also know of many vets that charge alot more, just because they can. What are your opinions on my Mega case SW.
  3. He did a poo smear on ALL my birds for 16.50. As I said, They do not get enough into them per day to be treated properly! Either way they dont have it.
  4. Okays I have just been talking to colin, he said the thing is with budgie is they dont drink enough to get the required dose into them per-day. Colin said their is no point doing it cause it wont work and will cost you a fortune! I brought another bird into him today that had a stained vent (i am on hyper alert at the moment) and a avairy fecal sample. Colin looked at my other bird and did 2 fecal smears. They were all clear. He was very impressed that there was not a single mega or ANY OTHER sort of nasty. The hen was nothing to be concerned about. Colin is a kind man who is very aware of peoples finances. He didnt charge me any consultation today. Just 16.50 for the poo smears. He is a kind man - not a money hungry vet
  5. Thank you. Ill look into it :bluebudgie:

So sorry to hear that. Hugs
  7. I doubt funglin would work against Megabacteria honestly. For one it sounds like a fungal treatment not a bacterial treatment. Im not going to second guess my vet. He is very recognized and competent.
  8. She was put down because she was too far gone. She had a less than 20% chance. The megabacteria treatment takes 10 days to take effect so the birds are literally starving for that 10 days before the gut heals. She wasnt going to survive that 10 days. The only way to treat my flock would be to crop needle each one day and night. That means catching every birds twice a day for 30 day. Plus the treatment costs about $60 per bird. Also my hygiene practices are very good- little contamination between birds. In a month we are going to do a combined feacal smear to make sure none of the others are carriers. In terms of levi's fracture. He doesnt need the antibiotics anymore. Its healing my itself. A check up in a month
  9. Okay, Levi went in for his one week check up yesturday and it turns out he has a cracked brestbone. Maybe from a crash landing somewhere. But who knows. I also took my sick hen to the vet at the same time. Turns out she has MEGABACTERIA!!!! ARG. So she was put down yesturday too. Not happy at all

Oh I love him!!! What a sweetheart.
  11. Colin Walker may send it too you. He sells it to me over the counter and its about $30. It is also administered via crop needle, or spot on. So maybe its the same product that they were trying to sell you. Did you get a brand or name? Cause there is an ivermectin derivative that on the market- i dont know the full details. And it does treat scaly face. We have birds that I have treated with it and it worked a treat
  12. Hey Nae!Has anything changed lately in their daily routine? Anything at all? Sy may be hormonal and may need more hours covered. I dont know the exact details but someone else will. My other concern is that Sy may be sick or sore - but I do not know my love.Good LuckPS. How weird is it calling Sy a SHE! hehehLIV: But the fact that she is doing it more often... shouldnt that be of more concern?
  13. Thanks LIV!

Okays, I retract my statement. Your probably right on her age. :hap:

Kaz, I read the question the same as you did! :laughter: Summer: As far as age goes, I agree with Liv. I dont think she is over 6 months. My baby is only 4 months and he doesnt have an bars either. Sometimes they are just born with minimal baby bars. She hasnt got her iris ring yet so she would only be about 4 months or so. She hasnt gone through her moult yet either, because she still has the mis-formed cheek spots too.
  16. You have been given great advice, I just want to say that it is really nice to see new members so eager to learn and help out their little feathered friends. We all get emotionally attached to some of our birds :laughter:
  17. Dont worry GB, that has confused me for ages too!!!! hehehe
  18. JB and MB, you guys need to take me to one one day! :laughter: Pwetty pweeze!
  19. I kinda agree with daz. I was going to say 12 months. After their second molt??
  20. I love Cosmo! Typical budgie character
  21. Either way I LOVE that! Its awesome!
  22. I recon more than that. Its $50 min consultation usually (and thats a good price)- its more for the meds etc
  23. Your info is great Kaz. Ill let her know.
  24. You need to do abit more searching than to just flip them over. Heheheh. Push around on the genitals and you will either see a ***** protrude or a small slit if its a female
  25. No No, Not my babies. A lady that came into work has had this happen. Im trying to find info for her.
