  1. The pictures of the magnificent birds in this catalog along with the list of sellers' names all point to one outcome: make sure the credit card is clear before proceeding I would suggest that quite a few birds will go for BIG MONEY

Kaz I'm with you - I love my tiled birdroom floor, cleaning is a breeze.
  3. Hills Auction Catalogue is online http://www.budgerigar.com.au/auction.html From a quick glance, looks to have some Excellent quality birds on offer. 3 National Champions are offered up for sale 1. Clint Ault - Opaline Cinnamon 2008 2. Ken Seagrott - Greywing 2006 3. Henry George - Opaline Cinnamon 2005 Also a number of National placings offered, including 2009 4th Yellowface M & R Fellows
  4. Pied Spangle (Recessive ?). Because Pieds are lower on the matrix she would be shown as a Pied, not as a spangle

Do many breeders use an Ioniser in there Birdroom's?? Im looking to purchase an Iondisc 500, does anyone have any feedback for the Iondisc 500??

The 4 varieties you have listed are to be shown in the AOSV Class, Any Other Standard Variety. Normally you only see Suffused yellow and white shown though. I have never seen a Darkwing or a Saddleback, and only once seen a Dark eyed clear shown!!
  7. Im saying Lacey is a Grey Yellow or a Dilute. Dont think shes a Cinnamon Greywing, Cinnamon Greywing spots are normally darker, and flights are too washed out. For those interested in showing, Lacey is a really good example of what is shown in the AOSV Class, variety wise!!!
  8. I have a feeling the Victorian Nationals in 2012 will be in Geelong!!!
  9. From a Victorian perspective Pete Thurn was probably our most successful exhibitor at the Nationals. Pete had 5 birds selected in the team, to get 3 firsts, 1 second and a third is remarkable. The second and third came in classes he won anyway!!! The 3 Nationals this year plus last years win with an Albino put him in very esteemed company. Apart from Bob Smith and Ken Seagrott who both won 3 Nationals in 2006, there wont be too many to equal or better Pete's result.
  10. Its Peter Thurn Daz
  11. My Pick of the National birds without seeing them in the flesh, 1st place Blue, 2nd place cinnamon, 1st place Spangle. Its always hard to critique a bird on 1 picture only. I would be interested to know Daz and Gina's thoughts??
  12. Following breeders journals a lot of breeders have pairs already down, hopefully with chicks. Mine were paired up in March and are laying there 2nd round now.
  13. A Normal Opaline has black markings. Any Other Standard Variety Opaline has cinnamonn and grey markings. Renee comments isnt exactly correct, Opaline AOSV can be either Opaline Cinnamon or Opaline Greywing, not both. In the Opaline AOSV class, as well as Opaline Cinnamon and Opaline Greywings, Opaline Blackeyes among others. Basically Normal Opaline marked birds are shown as Opalines, anything that retains the Opaline markings but is colour modified is shown in Opaline AOSV.
  14. Its a real hard one Macka, its only a disqualification if its a permanent deformity. Meaning that if you are judging and see the correct toe position only once, its not a permanent deformity. I'm guessing that it would have been a tough decision for the Judges also, they dont like doing that. Has anyone heard how the Auction went?????????????
  15. Jeff has confirmed it: 3 toes forward. Pity 'cause it was a really strong bird. Interesting that they would select a bird like that, knowing what the consquence's have turned out to be.
  16. Well done Nubbly 3rd with Lacewing
  17. I think you'll find that oats are more likely to make a budgie fat than sunflower.
  18. Results for this years Nationals will be available via a live news feed, updated at the end of each class. Link is available from the BCT website. Got the link??? I found it. Click HERE Nationals start today, judging will begin at 10am with odd numbered classes 1. Normal Green 3. Normal Blue 5. Blackeyes 7. Albino 9.Greywing 11.DF Spangle 13. Opaline AOSV 15. Lacewing 17. Yellowface 19. Recessive Pied 21. Crests
  19. I only use Grey Stripe, never have used Black for reasons you stated originally
  20. Good Idea Kaz. My perferred method of running a cock over 2 hens is pair him up to the first hen and wait until she has laid the 4th egg and then move him to the 2nd hen. There are many ways of doing it.

  22. John Scoble is still around and breeding good birds, he won recently at a young bird show in NSW. I also have the book.
  23. Shannon you are in NQ not SQ Heath from memory it was neck and neck on Saturday night last year with SQ NSW and VIC hardly being split... As you know SQ is a strong team this year... But don't worry, i will appologise for winning on Monday.. when the hang over clears. If SQ win, it will be my shout, when we meet face-to-face Daz. My souces in Sq tell me Bob has a couple of nice birds in the team and there a couple of really nice Clearwings....... I will be in regular phone contact to get results. Normally the hosting state has the results up fairly quickly.
  24. I'm happy for SQ to put up a fight for Second place with NSW
  25. Well Done Gina !! The Victorian team will be hard to beat again ..... Heath is that a challenge I wondered how long it would take to get a bite Daz! Its a Challenge every year. But seriously the Victorian team is as strong as the past couple of years, will be very hard to beat. Stong across nearly all varieties, Victorian birds should place birds on the top shelf most classes. Mention should be made that Sheppard & Flanagan have 19 birds on the Vic team, nearly 1/3 of the total team. Amazing effort! ....anyway Daz I've had a rundown the SQ team, you have a few good chances.
