Lumina And George Jr
Hi a few weeks ago my normal green pair George Jr(Georgie) and Lumina(Lulu) laid their first clutch of six eggs. Lulu being the stuborn hen she is did'nt really want to mate with George but then after the first egg was laid she actually invited him to mate, but any more than once was pushing it(George!) yeah and me trying not too get exsited in case nothing came of the eggs.....well I was more worried than anything I thought she was eggbound everytime she had an eggbutt(Im a very...no stupidly paranoid person)and then I was scared George or Lulu were going to crush the eggs. But then now I have two healthy little jelly beans unamed in case something happens to them, but the good news is that there crops are always full and when ever they sqeek Mommy or Daddys always there I think George is the main chick feeder. The most custest thing happened today Lulu acsidently knocked baby 2 on his/her back and it sqeeked and George ran in there and rolled him over. Well here are some pictures George the Dada Lulu the Mama Baby 1 Pictures of baby 2 coming in about two days because I have a guy coming to clean the oldest feet on sunday (I'm to scared to do it)

Breeding Cute Lil Baby Budgies ... What Could Go Wrong!
Hey Elise, It is very hard and stressful on the both the male and the female to breed and rear chicks. Many problems can occur, problems that can even kill your budgie. IT took me a very long time to prepare for breeding my budgies I had alot of fear and worry about all the things that could go wrong. And please, please Elise study for a little bit longer I'd hate for something to go wrong and you regret what you did so please study more. I studied for 9 months before I started and I was even not going to do it I was so scared, But now after 9 months of studying and 4 weeks of quarantine for my budgies I have a very happy and proud mama on five eggs and two chicks I'm even still reading over the things I know just in case I missed something and also because I'm worried. So Elise remember Its not as simple as putting a male and female together and letting them mate and raise chicks. Also I'm sorry if im being harsh but I'm just trying to help and pass on what others have told me. Jodie

An Update On My Budgie With 7 Eggs
Okay about 2 days ago I was worried about Lumina laying a random egg 8 days after the sixth was laid, so yeah I just an update well the first two eggs didn't hatch, which I knew as I didn't think any would hatch and this morning I woke up and cried because Bailey my opaline blue male attacked his Female Sky as she keeps rejecting him from mating with her he had been stressing her out for a couple of days, so after today I put a stop to it and separated them. I then went down stairs to tell my mom that they fought and I separated them. So I went back upstairs to find high pitched cheeping and there was a little baby jellybean cheeping. It has fur on its butt is that normal?? My friend said there completely bald when they hatch. Also Lumina started squawking in the middle of the night so I was wondering if the chick moved in the egg? as the egg hatched this morning.

Hen On 6 Eggs
I'm feeding egg food and regular seed and the bell things and millet I have peas and carrot in the fridge I could try for them

Hen On 6 Eggs
I had the same thing happen with my hen just a few weeks ago. I was advised to put millet spray in there with her and also have alot of "soft foods" available (but not in the nest box) for easy and fast feeding. Soft foods like greens, grated carrots and eggs, etc... it's easier for her to eat and much easier for the cock to fill up on and regergitate back to her, but also of course keep plenty of seed available too. Im frightened to give her veggies because the eggs are close to hatching and chicks cant have veggies

Hen On 6 Eggs
she looks a tad on the thin side so I was wondering if it okay to put some millet in the box with her? Also I dont know if this is in the right topic....

Need Help
Sorry I wrote this in concern that Lumina is going to die because George mates with her everyday when she comes out the box. I'm worried hes going to keep making eggs and shes going to get egg bound.

George And Lumina
they look the same nothing strange about them, also George and Lumina mated again today does that mean theres a higher chance of fertile eggs?
-
George And Lumina
Oh the oldest egg is three days old and the second is one day old, so there isnt any way by colour or size?
-
George And Lumina
Hi she still has two eggs and she hardly moves off them and she very protective of them, and my main worry is that George is forever trying to mate with her but she doesn't want too , but hes the one feeding her and taking care of her. And just three questions 1. Lumina's cere is a light tan colour is that breeding condition? because at first I thought damn I shouldn't have put the box on. 2.Is there anyway by telling of the colour of the if its fertile? 3.How do I clean there cage or do I leave it?

George And Lumina
yeah that's right

George And Lumina
She laid another 1 today, and is sat on them since the first one was laid
-
George And Lumina
Thanks Kaz I have two females between two cages not in the same so you dont have to worry about that, and Lumina's more of the bossy stuborn but caring type and when I went it to check on them(not look in the box) but to see if she was in or out and then George came out the box and Lumina didnt come up but she was in it so she does let him in

Hi I'm New
Hi budgiegirl hope you enjoy the forums, as for your questions It is better to buy a budgie off a breeder as they are easly tamed at a younger age. And you can feed your budgie brocoli, sweetcorn(a favourate of Bailey's my budgie)carrot, apple, banana, bok choy, spinach, as for the names are you getting a male or female?

George And Lumina
Well I saw George and Lumina my normal green pair mate two days ago and one day later Lumina had a big butt and I was worried she was eggbound. Then the next day nothing but then at about 7ish 8ish I checked and there she was sat on a little egg. Tommorow I should have egg number two, I dont think any will be fertile has it is both of there's first time. But just having eggs is good for me and having babies would be exalent. And right now I'm defrosting peas and brocoli for George and Lumina too eat, Also Lumina Only comes out too eat, poop and stretch and theres only one egg. Now for some annoying questions..... 1.How many eggs do they usally lay? 2.Because my other female budgie is going in her nest box does that meen I can foster Lumina's eggs if she has to many, or is that only if my other female has egg too? 3.How many days untill they stop laying? 4.Is it normal for a hen to sit on the egg constatly if there is just one? 5.Is it normal for a hen to not let her male in the box when there is an egg?

Introducing Zahra
Thanks guys The little girl was a bit depressed so she wouldnt eat, drink or move. So I added Kimy the next day I know neither are sick I checked breathing, nostrals and other places and poops so they are both exsited to have a new play mate, I also think Zahra thinks Kimy is her mother as she lies underneath her(I know Kimy is'nt just sat on her because I see Zahra run under her) I move Kimy off though as I'm worried Kimy will crush her theres a 1lbs 2ounces difference between them.
