  1. When she was a puppy she always tripped over those ears Jenene :bluebudgie:
  2. If she lays an egg (or eggs) do you think I should leave them with her or foster them? I only have one hen at the moment on eggs
  3. Renee where Chrissy lives it is way too cold in winter to have birds in outside aviaries
  4. I had only been out there a couple ofhours before hand and he was fine, hopping around chirping happily so it would be pretty unlkely he just dropped off the perch.
  5. She s a maiden hen who I bought a few months ago. don't plan on tryng to breed her again rght now anyway
  6. Why did the vet put your hen down rather than treating her?
  7. Oooh hey JB now imagine it with perspex back and sides and the wirecagefronts
  8. These are my girls. Sascha is a kelpie and was bought for $20 from a guy on a cattlefarm about 4 1/2 years ago. Josephine(Josie) is a Basset Hound and we waited for many months for her from a breeder at the start of last year, she was born on mothers day Josie cost 60X as much as Sasch but we love them both ust the same Here's Josie as a pup And Sasch as a pup with our old dog Beau
  9. If you look closely Hills you can see that the side panels have a little hook on them holding them closed
  10. She'll just go back to thw communal aviary in about a week if no eggs are forthcoming and I'll think on her for a while. Mybe it would be less of a problem if I tried her in apatio aviary size cage where the cock can get awya from her if needs be or maybe if I let her pick her own mate rather than choosing one for her...
  11. Neither did I but she has the blood on her face to prove it and I know it has only happened late today as GenericBlue was here until about 2:30 today and we spent most of our time out looking at the birds. The area they are in is VERY mouse proof so I don't believe it could have been caused by anything other than her
  12. I am devestated to report that one of my crested hens who was put down to breed with a cock for the first time only about a week ago tonight scalped her mate resulting in his death :glare: He was one of my best grey cocks so it is even more devestating She has started to become interested in the nest box and I guess maybe she didn't want him near HER box :glare: I have decided to leave her in there on the off chance she lays an egg in the next day or two and I'll foster it under another hen. I don't know whether to risk trying to breed her again, I don't want to loose another boy to her temper but I did really want atleast a few babies from her
  13. You in Bittern? My hubby is from there :glare: The one in Cranbourne no longer exists I believe, Cranbourne members come to the city ones now, we are at Eastern District(Box Hill) and we have a member from Cranbourne
  14. Yeah that's why we though t better to do it now rather than a few years down the track
  15. You can see a spangle pattern on a lacewing by the way the cinnamon markings show through
  16. Because if they sold it over the counter then less people would have to get $115 health checks for thier birds. I have had vets tell me they'll sell it but only if they see the bird for a consult, I bet they'd love it if I turned up with 50 budgies, galahs, corellas and lorikeets all for a health check
  17. If the markings appeared in a pied pattern (such as with clear flights) then that would be an indication that she was also masking dom pied
  18. I would suss out who your local bird clubs are and speak to them as they will probably sell it through their trading bench
  19. Ooh,good to know My final lot of starter birds will be normals purchased from a guy I know who predominantly breeds spangles, DFs and normals so I'll ask him for history before I select the normals I want.
  20. She is NOT a spangle :thankyou: She is opaline though
  21. I didn't realise how lucky until this post when I realised that she was related to the fluff ball!!!
  22. Yes you can have whatever letters you like as long as they aren't already in use The reason I will be changing is because last year Angelic Vampyre and I were registered as a co-operative. Because our interests have kind of become different in what we want to pursue in our birds it is better for us to go our own ways and get our own memberships. I haven't got any real winers rung with the old rings so it was better to do it now before I did :thankyou:
  23. Well it's a long story but my ring letters willactually change this year from what they were last year so I haven't got my new letters yet. I'm hoping to get AQ# for Aquila Aviaries to go with the name :laughter:
  24. okay, well I will need to get a decent jigsaw as mine isn't functioning very well at the moment but when I have enough money to buy a few sheets(I'm poor after buying Splat's birds  ) I'll give it a go :laughter:
