  1. they can breed.... whether they are successful will be determined by a couple of things, 1. Are they old enough to breed? 2. What is success in terms of breeding? 3. Have you got a good set up for breeding? 4. Are they in condition? 5. What babies are you expecting to get? 6. Are they green or blue series birds? 7. Do you know what their parents were? If you can answer those questions I'll be able to give you a score out of 10 (10 being the best).
  2. They sure don't make them like they used to... Great cars.
  3. :budgiedance: I'm not sure if my wife will be able to fit that into our budget, maybe I'll have to wait a year or 2 till you have to cull some of their babies... I got in first people!!!
  4. I keep telling Lisa, I'm alergic to babies nappies
  5. Could not agree more. I can only speak for myself, but in these instances its always best to get the police on side. I wouldn't get angry and upset, I'd open the door and say g'day, shake their hands and invite them in to look at the birds. While you're doing that explain that other officers have been around recently because of a complaint that was made against you in regards to the same matter. (chances are it won't be the same police unless you're in a small town) Show them your set up, explain to them what steps you take incase of hot temperatures. I don't know but you could possibly call the R*P*A and explain to them what is happening, get them to come over and look at your setup, they might be able to give you a letter saying that they are housed appropriately and well cared for. Show that to the police next time they come around... Just a couple of Ideas, the R*P*A might not do that sort of thing, I dunno, worth a try though...
  6. Seriously, who wouldn't want a budgie after seeing those pics???
  7. I thought you said she was over one year possibly one and a half years old... must of misread... If you are saying that she is definately over 6 months old then I wouldn't be worried at all. some birds don't have white iris rings until they are over 1 year old...
  8. nice birds Kaz.
  9. I like admiring other peoples birds... I can't wait till I have that many... of that good a quality...
  10. are you sure she is that old? Some birds develop quicker than others... and also it can make a difference if they have been inside all their life... or so I've read...
  11. Look Liv, it was really nice of you to quarantine these before sending them onto me, I'm sure they have really appriciated the stop over but I'm ready for them to arrive now and I'll do my own quarantine, it isn't that I don't trust your quarantine its just my normal practice... Just let me know what flight they will be one and when I need to be at the airport to pick them up, its no trouble the airport is only 15 minutes from my house. Really I won't mind at all...
  12. alternatively some of the lovely members could post pics of their breeding cages to give you idea's HINT HINT other members
  13. There are a few different ways you can make them. Personally my two favourites are Daz's and Kaz's set ups. Daz makes his own wooden ones with a cage front up and Kaz has gone with wire cages... I am finding it harder and harder to find cage fronts and when I do find them the shops never sell the same ones.. can be a bit of a headache... I would do a search for there layouts and see what you come up with... you find their posts...
  14. I would say bluegum is safe. Lucky birds, unlucky kids
  15. what colour babies do you want? If you want greens then the "yellow and grey" one, if you want blues the pair the 2 blues... Do you know if the "yellow and grey" bird is split for blue? I agree with Dave, do you know the age of these birds?
  16. yeah me too Hills, that's a lot of Budgies
  17. Last night. When was the last time you moved house?
  18. JimmyBanks replied to Elly's topic in Competitions
Ahh yes forgot that part Do you listen to talk back radio?
  19. I wonder if they have many spangles or pied in the wild. I understand that light greens thrive but does it matter what mutation they are carrying... hmmm. I think someone needs to volunteer to do some field work and study this...
  20. I like your current one. It looks great.
  21. Great Pictures! I am not good with mutations. Just wanted to say and hope you like it here Grote Beelden! Ik ben niet goed met veranderingen. Enkel gewild zeggen en hoop u van het hier houdt don't you love Altavista babel fish? Hahaha!
  22. awww what a pity. that's a real shame...
  23. Thanks Dave and Kaz! Great to read what he has to say about this issue... very interesting reading... What is a good look in a show bird always seems to bring out difference of opinion Looking forward to reading the discussions...
