  2. thankyou, and i didnt mean to offend anybody and i guess i'll come here first if im looking for birds! :(Laughing out loud): good point libby, i hadn't thought of the quokka, although i guess there would be some great small aviaries in there
  3. hmm, yes im very fond of pieds, (like your babies, kaz, ive been casting a jealous eye over those sweeties :fear ) maybe i can find him a blue spangle recessive pied!
  4. hi everyone, just thought this might be an interesting thread. I noticed kaz is from perth like me, and i was wondering where you find your birds and supplies? I used to go to this lovely little place called bird barn, on nickelson, but it has closed down unfortunately. I went to bird **** once but had a terrible experience, although they have a beautiful range of birds. they had a little playground with young budgies and other parrots that were 'hand reared', but infact they had just had their wings clipped, and they tried to fly away from a prospective buyer. ofcourse they hit the ground and scattered, all the staff were trying to catch them and not step on them. the poor things, how stressful! however it might be a different story there for aviary birds?
  5. i love the grey, its stunning! i wish i had the resources to bring home 21 birds! *dream* :feedbirds:

If Zoe is a pied and at 3 years old has never had a coloured cere indicating ahen in breeding condition....are you sure Zoe is a girl ? Recessive pieds have a pink cere all their life if a boy....coloured brownish if a girl. Dominant pieds would have coloured ceres. Do you have any photos ?oh ofcourse! i forgot about that rule! , i'll try to get some photos, although im not sure how to get them on here... thanks!here is a photo of them both from a while ago, when they were spring chickens i hope it works, zoe is on the right.here is a photo of them both from a while ago, when they were spring chickens i hope it works, zoe is on the righttake two.. ttp://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj73/loreli_bucket/laurenpictures012.jpg ">sorry, i messed up this post, i thought i did three seperate posts from miss oh-so-computer-savvyzoe today">zoe today, sorry about quality First picture oversize, changed to link but didn't work, sorry try again, believe me, it takes time, just ask me! thankyou all for the warm welcome! yes, ollie the five yr old is much too small anyway, my vet, ray butler said she would probably get egg bound. zoe is a grees and yellow aust pied, i havent seen her in breeding condition yet, her cere is quite pink. thankyou all again!
  16. Hi, Im new, i have two pet budgie hens, but im interested in going into breeding, with a small outdoor aviary. I want as much info as possible first, and have been reading the relevant faqs and threads. One thing im worried about is inbreeding. If i had 2 pairs in an aviary (unrelated) could the babies sort themselves out when the time comes for them to be breeding? or would they still breed with their siblings/parents? and if i had one pair in an aviary, would they be happy to breed? then thinking of keeping one chick from the batch and then buying it a mate when the time comes? i hope this woulld be okay, or would it breed with the parents? what do you think? (sorry if im being confusing) :yellowhead: Thankyou from a confused featherhead
