  1. My Latte cleans all the poop off the paper on the bottom of the cage (which is sitting above the wire) and drops the poop into the tray below. The cage floor always looks freshly cleaned. She is not bored becuase she has 2 other friends in the cage with her, Cookie and Scooter, and she comes out to play a number of times a day. :hap:
  2. They are lovely. Looks like you have a serious setup too. I am going to start cabinet breeding in spring, but my setup will be tiny hehe.
  3. I have gotten behind with your topic, sorry :hap: Your new setup looks like it is going to be great!!! I am very jealous! I hope your daughter is going to get better fast. Happy Anniversary!!!

I had a hen do this - It was quite distressing for her as she wouldn't eat enough and spent all her time trying to 'escape'. I think she is a bit claustrophobic, as she did not settle in a small cage at all. Because she was in quarantine, I ended up having to empty one of my aviary's just for her so she would calm down. She has joined the flock now and she is happy.
  15. I have a DF spangle hen, which I bought thinking it was a lutino. She is pure yellow and has the iris ring - They are very pretty birds Here is a picture of her after she over indulged in the bath hehe

FANTASTIC news Sounds like they will warm to you easily and you will have 2 lovely birds
  17. I agree with Norm and Elly. Give her a rest. The nest box is the problem. Budgies breed like rabbits when there is ANY nesting site available.

They don't sound too untame, just unsure of people, but not terrofied - which is good Does the males bite hurt you? Does he grab onto your finger and bite hard? Or does he threaten to bite, and when you put your finger near him, does he take snaps at you, but it dosen't hurt at all??
  19. Congrats on bub number 1!! The parents are lovely I am so excited about breeding in a cabinet - I cant wait to do it myself and I will really enjoy reading your updates
  20. haahaha i was WAAAAY off with thinking they were pied hahaha
  21. I agree with Norm and Neat. Nothing to worry about :hap: I haven't heard that before??? What does the salt do?
  22. Charlie Murphie could be a girl with a light blue cere and white rings around the nostrils.... Also, girls tend to be bossy hehe. can you post a picture?? Sounds like everything is going really well with their introduction and you are doing everything right :hap: Edit: SNAP KAZ hehehe
  23. I find it takes most new (solo) birds about 2-3 weeks to sing. Like Elly said, they need to get used to humans rather than birds. The more birds you have, the quicker they settle in - mine only take a day or two

Hello and welcome! As already said, your birds if not hand tamed already, will by tricky to tame at the age of 2. Are they flighty when you put your hand it the cage? or do they just not want to sit on your hand??? They may have been tamed as a baby, then their owner "lost interest' so they lost their tameness. If this is the case, they will need both wings clipped but they should tame for you in time
  25. They look lovely. They almost look like they are going to be dominant pieds, by the lack of marking on the head...???
