She didn't lay another egg yesterday so I'll see if the 2 she has are fertile or clear and decide then whether to give up on her or try again. The 8 pair I have down now I am just playing around with, they are birds that I haven't tried before that I bought when older or the others I tried last year with no results so I'm not expecting anything outstanding to come from them.

I think by memory the wire/mesh should be no bigger than 12mm for budgies.

I'm not paranoid it's just that this lot I have down is different from the last 2 lots I have had breed. I suppose also I haven't really had the time to spend around this lot that I have had in the past lots?

I had a hen like that recently, ending up laying 3 off the perch and then smashed them all and ate them after I put them in the nest box.

HaHa, yes only check once in the morning and once again about 5ish. It's just that they always seem to be in the same place you never hear them rolling about. Last year when breeding I could hear the hens rolling them around the boxes when I was changing their seed etc. okay I must be having another dementia moment as my kids call it.....

I removed the clear egg and she laid another egg later that night and another since and 3rd one is due today, so I don't know what went on with the first one? I think I just have strange birds :hap:

At the minute I have 3 hens that have laid eggs and are just sitting on them they don't seem to be rolling/moving them around at all? Is it because it is still colder weather, I didn't breed until later last year? It has just dawned on me that I got all three hens from the same place, they are approx 2-2 1/2 years old. I'm wondering if that's why they were sold.... :hap:

This morning I accidently made up twice the amount of calcivet that I needed, I tipped the left over out thinking that it was a waste. Could I have put it in a bottle until tomorrow? I wasn't sure if it would keep or not?
