Bleeding
I would wash the birds neck with warm water, nothing in there, just to wash away any blood or dirt that naturally might attract to the sight. Keep him for a few days in a seperate cage with a heat lamp on him. Ensure he is eating well and pooing normally. He sounds like he is doing well, so that is all you really have to do.

We're Building An Aviary In The North
Glad to see that it is coming along. Are these birds inside during your winter - obviously. How will they adapt as they change between the 2 environments?

Veggies From The Super Market
I agree with what is written above - 100%. (Wanting to join the group that is all about bringing back the 100% limit!!! You cannot give 110%. 100% is the maximum. Always was , always will be)

Is He A Normal Green?
maybe dom pied - there is some yellow on hsi chest, but you do not know if that is bought out by the camera. Breeding him would help determine the truth

Is He A Normal Green?
Normal green split to recessive pied

Throwing Egg Out Of Nest
Budgies don't have hair. Except maybe eyelashes. Really? No hair? And all this time I thought that a full crested budgie used gel and a half crested budgie was really a comb-over

Off To Perth
they did the the autopsy, and it did not reveal anything out of the ordinary. She was not putting on weight, she was continually throwing up, she had a messy vent and she ended up with a very minor yeast? infection. Nothing in her bloodwork, or in her gut, or in her crop, that would indicate illness. Well, whatever it was, it will not be exposed to my flock.

Off To Perth
I am laughing and crying here at the same time. She is such a great bird. I would die for a bird like that. I need Hens like that in my aviary. I am so pleased for you Kaz, but it is killing me everytime I look at her. I am just preying that she produces offspring. I woudl hope I would be first in line on that for sale list - LOL.

Welcome to the site. It is great to have a breeder from England on here. We look forward to you telling us more about your birds, your set-up, and the way that Budgie Breeding works in England. Photos are always appreciated, so please feel free to post some pics, showing us your birds and set-up. Once more, it is great to have you join us here.

Please Can You Judge These Birds?
If you really want people to judge them, you need to take a lot better photos. Your photos are too close and they do npt allow good judges to view the way the bird sits, it's blow, head shape or length.

My New Clearwings

Wattle Flights

Wattle Flights
I am very please to have the tree down. All is good - tree down and stump ground. it will be nice to have the birds, well most of them, back in the aviary.
-
Wattle Flights
Well, the tree come sdown and out in the morning, the birds will go back in the aviary tomorrow afternoon. The aviary is not in an ideal spot at the moment, as it is right in the middle of everything in the backyard - not ideal. Tonight I filled the aviary so it is ready to have the bird put back in. This means that i reattached the dowel perches, I covered the bottom with sand - that way droppings will be easy to remove off the pavers and I will not need to water blast .. or scratch droppings off, nautral branches went back in. Seed bowl is in, vege containers are in, water is reattached to outside, solar powered lamps are hanging again up on the side. All the aviary needs now is occupants - LOL.

Wattle Flights
Well, the tree behind the aviary $ being removed on Friday, so the aviary needed to be moved. All the birds were moved to holding cages, where the currently are. the garage is deafening at the moment. The aviary was moved for 4 men. We all picked up a corner and carried it to its current position. Damn that thing is heavy. The birds will be returned to the aviary for a few months, in it s new position, until my fences are done. Some pairs will go down to breed, and the new breeding room is going to be assembled on 24th May (how sad is it that i have to book in my spare time), so they will start off in the garage, then progress from there. One problem did occur with the movement of the birds, that was with Twitch. He is my Green Normal that has Henry George Bloodlines. I was told, and this is how he gets his name, that Twitch is fine when he is moved from small cage to small cage, but when he is caught from an aviary, he reacts badly. Well, true to name and form, Twitch reacted badly. Now, some birds will try to fly and go a little buts, but Twitch really does exhaust himself, to the point he lays practically comatose on the cage floor until he gets up the energy to go nuts again. Rubbing his stomach helps a little, but he still gets all frazzled when released. In the end, I put him in a wooden cage with a Cec Gearing hen. When he had calmed down, and she realised that she no longer had to escape as she now had company, she was all over him, preening him and making him feel good. I think I might unblock the access to the breeding box and see if these two want to see about becoming parents. Birds will go back in tomorrow. Pics to come soon

Is Harry Male Or Female?
I woudl have gone with Dean_NZ. I am not sure that is an iris ring, but rather I think that is part of his eye we see there. His pattern to me indicates Recessive pied, not dominant. Any more pics?
