  1. my birds outside in my aviary cannot see my new birds in the garage, and vice versa, but there is a lot of conversation going on. It can get quite loud here with all the calling out. Oh well, the countdown until the end of quarantine is on. 41 days to go -
  2. They will probably be fine in one travel cage. You could put them in both if you want, but if the one you have is big enough, just use that one. I came back from perth with 29 birds in one travel cage. Sure, it was bigger than what you have, but the point is when travelling, the birds prefer to squash together rather than have a lot of room
  3. the red rings? Is red not the colour for this year? They obviously are not this years, so they ahve to be from the last time around. That makes them what 2003 birds?
  4. You are best taking your bird to the vet and getting advice. Even a sprain might be strapped and she might get restricted movement for a day or two.
  5. My genersoity knows no bounds. It also helps me on restless nights as I think of what I gave up, and i cry myself to sleep - Kaz and Ken were so nice to me it is a token gesture
  6. omelette = best purchase ever!!!!!!
  7. In the last 2-3 weeks, I have been through the whole birds witha broken leg issue. My bird went to eh vet, had a splint put on, was restricted to a small cage with no perches. She kept removing the bandaging, so she had it applied again and again, but here she is 3 weeks later, and it is as good as it ever was. Vet treatment is essential. You can check out my thread by going here to Kiwi's injured leg thread
  8. Well, as you all know, I am home from my Perth trip, so yesterday I went and picked up my dogs and my injured bird Kiwi form my parents house. Kiwi is doing great. Her leg has healed. My parents put the perches back in the travel cage so she has been perchins and jumping back and forth, eager for more space. When I came hom I released her in to the aviary. She is great. She gave her wings a massive flap and then flew a little bit. She did not hit the ground once. She is perching well. I will try to get some shots later, maybe tomorrow. Too many damn medical appointments of my own at the moment.
  9. I bet - only problem is that they are all related. If only you had given me some to take home. i think I had one or two spare spaces
  10. Great to see the family pics. I am seeing a lot of hens in those pics. Very good. Much needed

You are right in so many ways. If you go back and read what I wrote, you will see that the first part of the post was me being very kind, offering advice because I thought he got into trouble when things were not his fault. You will notice the next part where I mention I went back and read his previous post. He asked advice. Perhaps there is fault with both the advice given, in that it did not specify ages, and the fact that DragonX did not mention the birds' ages. Maybe by not asking the birds ages, we simply made an assumption that you knew what you were doing. Wrong by all of us. Yes, I was probably harsh. I am do not mean to attack you. I apologise if I my comments were too harsh.
  12. Post them in this one. Shannon says he will post new pics in this one. When I get some pics of my clearwings, I will post in this one.
  13. i agree with Kaz!!

have you read any of the preceding posts mysixbabies? DragonX knows that he might get into trouble, then he appears unhappy or shocked when it occurs. I am concerned that although some experienced breeders offered him some good advice, he failed to implement it and now his birds are in an unfortuante situation.
  15. no more pics yet. Had to go to school today so work beats budgies
  16. cool. Thanks shannon. Great to see them sitting up perching, hopefuly blowing so we can see the heads on them
  17. sure you can. It was designed by a very good breeder in WA and he is only too happy to share his knowledge with everyone
  18. the more the better. Put them in a show cage so we can see them better, and so we can see their size.
  19. I want to see some of your birds Shannon.
  20. I was wondering about the order. Is it necessary to follow the set order?
  21. Dave_McMinn replied to Glen's topic in New to BBC
Hi Glen, welcome to the forum. A word of warning, it all starts with one.....
  22. actually i have a hen that looks like that and she was also a rescue. mine is the result not of fighting in a colony breeding situation, but after she was treated for mites and/or scaley face, part of her cere fell off as did part of her toes. She is fine and will live happily, but she looks similar.
  23. 116. When you go away on holiday and you come home and instead of spending time with your loved ones who you have missed immensely, you wish them the best and then proceed to put your 29 - yes 29 - new show budgies in holding cages, ensuring they have adequate seed and that their water contains the proper meds to help assist them in the their recovery... or something like that.
  24. Why did you buy them?
  25. My sister is about to get an aviary for my nephews, so I am thinking that some can move there, where they can live out their days, but they are still in the family - LOL. You are right, tough love is the mantra of many a show breeder (and that includes me now, even though i have never shown a bird - I am going to need to adjust my info on the left there) lastest update, the new and old birds are all doxy'ed up. I am going to apply the same treatment method for all birds, old and new, so at the end of this, they will all have undergone the same procedure. Since I am putting so many birds into the aviary, I figure that when they are all placed together, then they should all be at the same level.
