  1. Juleslou, I have seen them at Pet Magic in Cannington as well. That's where I found the poor, poor overcrowded budgies. Love that site, Riebe
  2. wow, just one or two more birds. they are lovely.

They are just checking it out and, yes, probably playing in there. A lot of budgies will throw out their shavings. Are any of the budgies in breeding condition (ie dark brown or crusty cere for the females)? I would be careful with 2 females in together if they do start to breed as the non nesting female could cause problems.
  4. Getting rid of the mirror is a really good idea anyway. They can actually bond to the budgie they see in the reflection. I think the only time I'd use a mirror was if I had a solo bird.
  5. awwww, that is just so georgeous!
  6. That was my thought too..... maybe an egg or two are on the way.

Hello and welcome from another Newbie. I had been reading in here for months before joining too. I must say I have been made to feel very welcome in here.
  8. I wouldn't rule out a cat, they can be extremely good at sneaking up without being seen. If Winter and Stormy have been getting along okay all this time I can't see any reason why they would suddenly have such a huge spat. I wouldn't worry about them bonding, females can quite bossy creatures but when in breeding condition may be more receptive. Leave them and see how they are getting along.
  9. More than likely, Cheeky. Mine are the same as Shell and Lovey, I change things all the time. I change all their toys and move their perches about quite often. They never seem to mind at all, even if it is a toy that they have never seen before. Feathers
  10. Nice breeding. Congrats.
  11. Well done. Sounds like the start of a beautiful friendship.
  12. Riebie, I have just read all the way through this thread. What a cheeky little thing, Bobby is. Sounds like you have been more traumatised by this whole journey than he has. I am so pleased that he has come through it so well. Feathers
  13. I was going to do this with mine in a few weeks, as a couple are still a bit prickly from their 1st molt. Mainly to show how much Dekota has changed from sky blue to green. Merlin and Blinkie both grew into devastatingly handsome boys, didn't they?
  14. Fantastic photos, congrats on the healthy looking clutch
  15. Hi, I would have said up to 6 budgies too. I am assuming that you will lose 1/2 foot in length as well as you would be taking the base off. Have fun converting it - and as rainbow and cheeta mentioned, watch out for heavy metals. Feathers
  16. Lovey, my cage in green, just like you said. It is not exactly the same, but it is pretty darn close. Your door looks larger than mine and the crossbars are not quite the same. $100 US I assume.... good price with p&h included.
  17. Doesn't sound like feather plucking. How old are they? Could it have been a neighbourhood cat or other predator? Either way, Stormy doesn't seem too worried about it. If it was still bleeding you could have stopped it by putting on some cornstarch, other than that I would leave it alone. Just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't show any signs of being ill (constantly fluffed up, sitting on the bottom of the cage etc) Feathers
  18. Hi Ali, I'm glad Oscar had decided to make it more welcome. Having all one size perch isn't very good for their feet. Mine love the natural perches. I do as Cheeta has suggested with anything new that they may be scared of and put it down the bottom of the cage to let them get used to it at their own pace. Feathers
  19. ooh, a green one would be nice. Mine are all quite happy in there. Plenty of room for perches either side and room in the middle for a good stetch of their wings. I wouldn't go over 6 though . Hmm, I guess if my daughter's bird doesn't grow back enough flight feathers to go back in I could have one more..... Feathers
  20. The other link seems to have been removed, so I shall apply here. They are both beautiful... I can't resist buying new birds either... but I have promised myself that I will stop now. I really like the blue one. Take care, Feathers.
  21. Hi Cheeta, No, they are not all hand tamed, Tealah is just a scaredy cat. They get flight time during the day in my room and all but Tealah come out. Tealah will sit at the cage entrance look around and then go "no way". Putting some millet just outside the entrance makes him hang on for dear life upside down to get at it... but only if he doesn't have to poke his head out too far. This is the cage that they are in. It measures 82cm wide X 90cm high X 55cm deep. Feathers
  22. I'd agree with you on that, Sailorwolf. She gets prettier by the day. At least I know longer confuse her and Beau if I am too far away...
  23. Hi, Mentioning tweety on the side of the cage, which is normal, reminded me of a scene I came across a couple of weeks ago. I was in a pet store, so I went to see their birds and there was one cage that had about 10 budgies in it, but only enough perching room for about 6 of them. There was one poor bird trying to sleep on the side of the cage by holding on with his beak because there was no where else for him to go. I was so angry. Feathers
  24. Yes, she is... she is my Mum's favourite too. She is also Beau's favourite feathered friend! Feathers
