What a FANTASTIC idea, I thought I would give it a try this morning, I used plain paper towel, didn't want to risk it with the news paper although I know someone that uses newspaper in the bottom of there budgie cage and the budgie rips it up and they seem okay, anyway I didn't want to risk it so I used paper towel, and here are some pics stormy seemed to be more interested in it than winter, kept him occupied for a good hour and half I suppose winter was just happy he was leaving her alone for a while hehehe he still keeps going back to it

I think so, but then I'm bias as they are mine stormy likes to climb through the loop that is holding it to the cage and wrestle with it......... its really rather funny to watch hahahah

Hi all, I just thought I would post these pics that I took today of my 2 cute little budgies, it was 36degrees here in perth today and my budgies were rather hot, so I went out and gave them a little light shower with the hose, when I do it they get very playful and tend to play with this particular ball in there cage, and they drink the water that is left on it. anyway here they are. Stormy got to it first winter is patiently waiting her turn finally she gets what she wanted and doesn't really want to play with it.... just doesn't want stormy to have it......... much like my children really there are more of these balls around there cage but this one seems to be the favourite anyway hope you like them
  5. I have to say even though I am a fairly new member I also found what nathan had to say very offensive towards bea. I completely agree with what hoppyspadge had to say I to come here on a daily basis even if I have nothing to ask just to read all the posts, you can learn alot from all the different posts Bea I to also love reading about your birdies, so keep them coming I say!!

Bea I love to read your posts, I get a bit of a giggle out of them, you seem to have a great relationship with your birdies
  7. OH so many GEORGEOUS budgies!!!!!!!! I want more now also, keep beggin my hubby to hurry up and build my avary but I just get a aha and a nod why are they so addictive ...... better than being addicted to something that is bad for us I guess
  8. okay just thought I would let everyone know, incase you were wondering, stormy and I went to the vet's today (not a avian vet) just my local vet but he has dealt with birds there before. he said he looked fine, gave his tail a little bit of a clean, couldn't really tell me any different than you guys as to what might have happen'd. he said to keep an eye on him to make sure he isn't doing it to himself... but since its happen'd I have watched him and he hasn't done anything to himself. so I guess it will remain a mystery as to what happen'd I am just glad he is okay :bluebudgie:
  9. thanks lovey just love my birdies, most of the time I have a fair idea of what might be going on just like to come here to clarify... and after stormy's little tail thing the other day which we are of to the vet's for tomorrow I must admit I wasn't sure
  10. Thanks so much everyone I thought he was hot, just wasn't sure, they have a bath in the cage and winter uses it but I haven't seen him (stormy) use it so I got out the spray bottle and gave them a light spray he flew away from it though so I have come to the conclusion he doesn't like bath's ...... typical boy I have the same trouble with my son hehe he looked exactly like that cheekychucky anyway now I feel like a idiot for asking because I thought that was what is was hehehehe
  11. Thanks for the help with the rope perch's I had a look at the city farmer's in Kelmscott and they didn't have any, even asked for them and they looked at me like I was crazy.... and the closest pet shop to me doesn't have any either.... but next time I am near cannington I will have a look at pet magic, I live about 30 mins from cannington so not there that often. thanks for the web site Riebie going to go have a look there now. and I'm going to take picture's of my cage's tomorrow if I can and post them
  12. My budgie stormy is today standing on his perch with his wings slightly of his body, I can't take a picture becuase when I go out there he stops doing it but I can see him doing it through the window and I can't take picture through the window because the sun is behind it so it doesn't show up. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what he is doing let me explain a little better... he is standing on his perch with his wings slightly out from his body they are not fully stretched out like they do when they stretch its just the shoulder parts of his wings are of his body and he is chirping away, he looks like he is doing it at winter (female) but just not sure is he just showing of? its a bit of a warm day today could he be hot? hope it makes sense what I said
  13. Bea I would love to know where you got your rope perches from I am in WA and have looked everywhere I can think of and no-one seems to sell them here, feather's you might no where I can find them seeing as your in WA to........ any idea's? Great cage's by the way I will post picture's of mine as soon as I take some hehe
  14. thanks feather's, upon taking the mirror out I did notice that one of them has obviously been feeding the mirror because it was really grubby, so I am glad I have taken it out
  15. thanks lovey :dbb1:
  16. Thanks so much everyone, I was really worried about him last night he looked rather sad and I wasn't sure if he was going to make it through the night. but I have woken this morning to him back to his normal self flying around annoying winter :dbb1:, I did figure something out though they had a little mirror in there that they both seemed to share rather nicely, but this morning I heard them sqwaking at each other and when I looked they were both near the mirror so I have taken the mirror out incase that was the cause of the fight, if it was a fight. anyway now I think he is annoyed at his tail feather's that he has left because they are all stuck together with the blood so he keeps trying to preen them so I don't know if I should clean them for him or let him do it. I'm just worried about him doing more damage by preening them all the time. we are off to the vet on thursday :ausb: just to be sure thanks again everyone
  17. Thanks so much for all your help. I don't think that a cat could have got hold of his tail because if I even go to stand near the cage and he is on a perch near the side he will fly away from me untill he realises its me then he comes and sits an talks to me or eats whatever might be nearby. He hasn't lost all of his tail feather's it looks like he has about 2 left, but they look like they have been pulled out of his backside the ones he has lost, I'm sure it has stopped bleeding because the blood on the white bits of his tail are now brown. I'm really baffled because they get along fine from what I have seen apart from like I said a couple of small spats. It really looks like someone has yanked the tail feather's out. I can't see that winter would have been able to do it but then I guess ya never know. should I take him out? I have left him in with her for now as like I said they look fine with each other, I just don't want this to happen again so I thought about taking him out, only I don't want to stress him out any futher as I am sure he is probably sore thanks also quick question, I was hoping to breed these 2 eventually, if they have had a fight to cause this does this mean they are not going to bond? not that it matters I am just wondering
  18. Thanks feather's I was really concerened. there is a cat that has been seen around my house and has sprayed on my car (ewwww) but I can't see how it would have got a hold of him he would have just flewn away from it........ this really is a mystery? if it is feather plucking (which I don't think it is because I can't see that he would want to make himself bleed) what would have caused it??
  19. I have 2 flighted budgies in a outside cage boy stormy and girl winter, I have come home today at lunch time to find winter on the bottom of the cage chewing on a feather one of stormy's feather's (I don't know if this means anything) upon looking at stormy he has lost a couple of tail feather's and has blood on his tail and there is a bit of blood on the bottom of the cage. at first I thought maybe they had a fight but winter is white an there is not a spek of blood on her now if they had had a fight surely she would have blood on her? they have been together for about 2 months now and they have had little spats with each other nothing major usually its stormy being annoying and winter basically tells him where to go and then they are preening each other again 5 minutes later Stormy seems fine he is eating and flying and all the right stuff I just have no idea what might have happened to him if anyone has any idea's I would love it if you could help. he and winter seem fine at the moment I have seen them preening each other and kissing since I got home so I just don't know whats happened what can I clean stormy's tail with? I can't get him to a vet till thursday, it has stopped bleeding I would just like to give it a clean or should I leave it alone??
  20. wow I love that cage lovey, the 2 that I have in the cage that I mentioned has my 2 flightless budgies in, they can't fly, but I let them out every evening for a wander around my house. they are to cute walking around the house Cheeta and lovey I would really love your input on a question I have posted in health questions and tips, if you have time thanks in advance
  21. so either combonation would be okay? providing the cage was big enough and so on?
  22. wow okay thanks lovey an cheeta, my 2 budgies actually look small in it, they have heaps of room, but thats cool was just curious
  23. I would really love to know if anyone could help?
  24. I thought it would be more likely that the 2 boys would fight over a girl
  25. Just curious, would it be okay to have 2 girls an a boy or 2 boys and girl in a cage together? of would they just fight?
