hi all went to the west sydney auction today held at revesby. bought 9 birds 7 hens and 2 cocks for 225. i was really impressed with what i got. they include cinnamon greygreen hen 10 recessive pied opaline lt green hen 07 cinnamon opaline sky hen 09 normal grey green hen 09 recessive pied cinnamon opaline violet hen 08 spangle light green hen 06 danish pied grey green cock 08 danish pied light green hen 06 yellowface grey split recessive cock 10 i know 2 of the hens are older but wanna give em a go as they are nice birds does anybody know bout danish pieds. should i paair them up together or to normals. now gotta hunt round for some top notch cocks to go with these hens. did anybody else go i think the most expensive bird was just under 400

hi all i have a big problem a bird i was treating for scaly face has turned bad. her feet are all swollen and now has a growth on her back somewhere i also went out today and it looks like she has attacked it as there is blood all over the place. i thought the best thing would be to put her down any help on he best way to do it please. i dont want her to have any more pain. thanks david

hi there i have a pair of breeding birds where the hen and cock have been sitting on the bottom of the cage. she doesnt look to well. she is an older hen i got and was told it would be her last year to brred but jut to try and see. well she has laid 4 eggs but i think she may be egg bound. i have just taken her and him out and put into my hospital cage. should i try and foster the eggs out or just didpose of them till she is better. i dont think i have any hens laying around the same time i have some with babies just finished hatching and some i just put into cages. please help me i think i have mabe 2 pairs i could foster eggs to put they are better quality show birds and i dont wanna stress them out or have them kick out all theirr eggs. thanks david

they have been there for bout 2 years as they used to be in an aviary but i cleaned it out as cabinets got ruined and made it into my cockatiel breeding aviary. so been waiting a while to get this room started all cages have pegs on every door anyways only had one pair escape but have tarp on one side and shade cloth on the other 2 so i was able to catch them before they got out. i have 28 breeding cages, 12 small cages and 4 large cages the metal ones with stands. most are full as i dont have a budgie aviary right now. also have king quail on the floor to clean up seed.

really how many can she handle herself i dont think she has finished laying yet.

hi all i am finally getting my birdroom built it will attach on one side to my budgie aviary. then a new aviary i bought for cockatiels will make the other side and this aviary will be next to my cockatiel breeding aviary slab has been done and its 2.5m wide by just over 8m long. i will post some pics tomorrow of before the slab and after it was laid and how it looks today. have to wait to my dad gets back from holidays on the 18th september. at the momment all my breeding cabinets and holding cages are under my patio. then i will make a safety door/ holding area for my cockatiels due to the odd shape of the slab i will have a small storage/ viewing area too hopefully i can make some sort of safety door to the budgie aviary too. right now i have moved budgies out of their aviary, moved all my non breeding cockatiels in there while i dismantle their aviary and move it to the concrete. well i will get pics later to make it clearer but so excited.

okay thanks heaps for ur help i think i will leave the eggs and candle them to see if they are fertile i have a few of pairs i could foster the babies too if they hatch. also cant wiat for my dad to get home from holidays so i can get my new aviary complex going i will start a new post with picture of how it looks now

hi everybody i need some help in one of my breeding cabinets i have just found the male dead. the hen has just started laying and has 2 eggs my problem is should i leave her alone in the cabinet or foster out the eggs and put her back into aviary and find her a new mate. any help and advice would be appreciated. also i have one male still with a brown cere what can i give him to try and bring him back into condition many thanks David
