Just Read The Thread About Wing Clipping
How many of you do? I am usually for it, but since i have cats i have found that they have a better chance of living if they can fly on the off chance the cat gets ahold of the bird i've never had a problem with taming an unclipped bird it doesn't make them a better pet. Do you guys clip or unclip?

Help With Color
I think better pictures would help LOADS (Laughing out loud) yeah i noticed on the picture she looks all yellow but she isn't she's got some green on her. Actually it almost looks like an olive color on her back almost her whole back is this color her neck to her head is yellow the markings that are normally one the head are very faint, her chest is mostly yellow, overall it's a very splotchy pattern overall i don't know that i like the look of her, not her color she's pretty in that aspect but she small in size her feathers aren't smooth like you'd expect a keets to be, iether she's still a young bird or because of the place and possibly food she just didn't grow, i know she's got to be at least a yr or two old, but here is my next question, my vet said she's fine just small BUT, i've been around budgies for 15 to 20 yrs and she just doesn't look right (feathers i mean) right belwo her wings she's almost a band look, it looks like there is a band around her waist right under the bottom of her wings cause the feathers are not bald but just looks like she's got something around the waist I really need to get better pics so you guys can help me vet couldn't find anything but the normal vet that is a bird vet no longer works there so i had to take her to a general vet ANYHOW the other thing is her cere is making me think she may not be a she, it looks more pinkish to me but there looks to be a bit of blue. I know bobob is a male he has a blue cere, and i know my albino is a female her's is fleshy colored but i'm not sure about honey, (yellow ones name) there is a white ring around the eyes but not real prodominant yet could this still be a young bird? I know they had a lot of budgies out there and am wondering if they mistook this one for a the other one, (talking about how old bird was etc) they only had these two left but i know they got this one and another one at the same time and the other one looked quite a bit like honey and it was an older bird and it died so i'm wondering if this isn't the baby they just got (baby not really right term young bird is better term)

Genetic Lesson Num 3
UGH now i'm confused i thought i'd be able to identify pieds now i'm all lost....okay in order to be a pied the bird has to have a spot on the back of the head? I read somewhere, not here, thatt that in order to be a pied there must be a white stripe across the tummy...so please explain to me how to indentify a pied again? does the pied have to have a specific color? what about yellow faces, i read that a yellow face is just that, and the yellow doesn't blend in anywhere else is this correct or am i REALLY misinformed? i'm so lost

Tail Feather Question
i think they put them there cause i think they wanted to hear the birds they like the sounds but i don't think they realized that they needed more light, they do have a place to take a bath but i don't like it it's just a bowl, i am looking for an actual parakeet bath i get the dr foster catelog but i was wondering if anyone could give me a suggestion for more places to get bird supples like cages etc

Tail Feather Question
The girls don't get fruit or veggies because they won't eat them.....i have been trying now for days to get them and they refuse to eat them, it's almost like they are scared I have an apt made for the vet but i have to go 2 hrs from where i live, there is no birdy vets around here very frustrating! Is there something i can do to encourage them to eat veggies? I tried brocolli in small pieces and fresh green beans, I was thinking of trying a different veggie maybe i haven't found one that they like, the biggest thing is anything new in the cage they get terrified and won't go near it

Tail Feather Question
they were bought in a pet store by a relative and then i recently was given them, i should say they do have tails but not very long ones, when i brought them home they didn't have tails, and i didn't notice any feathers in the bottom of the cage but they could have gone through a molt because now that you mention it the little yellow one looked pretty scruffy (like they do when molting) but she's looking a lot better now i am thinking they were fed the "cheap" food i feed both seeds and pellets to my birds (my tiels) my male keet gets bird food from the pet store and i also feed fruit (small amounts) maybe i should buy some vitamins for the girls? I got these two on easter sunday. I should also state that they were in a fairly dark room not black or anything like that but a dark room none the less, could it bee lack of sun? I just went over and examined them the tails look like they have new growth coming, maybe it's just a molt but it's still baffling

Pictures Of All Our Family Birds
my cats aren't too bad when it comes to the birds but i would never want my birds to be out of the cage around them...i even put the birds in a different room with door closed when i go out you can just never tell how a cat or even a dog is gonna react to a bird it's okay though since i have lots of time (being a stay at home mom) i let my birds out quite a bit, sometimes if the cats take a nap in the bathroom i will shut that door and let everyone out on for playtime, but it's easier for me to take the birds to a different room

Pictures Of All Our Family Birds
my keets are tame my grey tiels aren't, my tiels are the ones that get out, i usually take them into our bedroom and let them out for couple hrs to play and interact with me, i have cats so sitting on the cage anywhere except in an room with a door shut is out of the question

Tail Feather Question
okay i'm not sure if this is the appropriate spot for this question if not may i ask it be moved to the right one? Herre goes, my two new keets both femals HAVE NO TAILS!! i mean it's not like they are bald or anything it's just like a EXTREMEMLY short tail is it possible that they just don't have long tails? is there a mutation that is like this? i have been after these two parakeets for 2 yrs now, and finally convinced the previous owners to give them to me, and i can't remember them EVER having tails

Pictures Of All Our Family Birds
i agree about the condtions of the cages but as i stated i got them that way, i should say the pictures were taken as soon as i got them home then cages cleaned and new pictures taken those didn't turn out, my camera is such a piece of trash kirby i know i really shouldn't use the pics i should just delete those and get new ones but this camera GRRRRR how bout this i'll start over by saying sorry i didn't tell the whole story AND the reason i didn't respond is i've been off the puter, internet issues HAte it when that happens I will try to get better pix and post how's that? I am special ordering cages for all, i actually had an egg hatch shortly after i got them but only one and this baby didn't survive, the really bummer thing is my female (bonnie) refuses to go anywhere near a nestbox! any ideas?
