Budgie Loves It's Cage?
Buster LOVES his cage. He can't fly now but when he could he would just fly back to it when he was ready. Now he will jump onto the legs of the stand and chirp until you put him in his cage.

I Gotta Know Why
No, he doesn't hate you! Buster goes through hormonal phases and does things like that. It'll pass after a while, just ignore it :offtopic:

Just Read The Thread About Wing Clipping
I keep my birds clipped. My budgie has an obsession with the oven.

That Kind Of Person
He's got a great cage and toys, it's just the food and cleaning :hap: I sent some pellets and better seed home with my roommate last week so he should be getting some of that now. I really hope he makes it because he's awesome. I spent my whole life being terrified of birds until I met him.

That Kind Of Person
I guess none of this is going to happen: Buddy spent the weekend sitting at the bottom of his cage all fluffed up, it looks like he's not very long for this world. He's an older budgie :hap:

Which Water Dishes?
I like the stainless steel ones a lot better than the plastic.

I Tried So Hard!
A little but if he has really deep purple cheek patches does that make him a violet? When I got him that's what I was told he is but I've never really found anything that clearly defines the difference.

That Kind Of Person
My roommate said she'd sit down with her and talk to her this weekend, they don't have a home internet connection so she wouldn't be able to join the board . I know I've learned loads of good information in just a few short months.

That Kind Of Person
I'd give her my budgie book but there's some stuff in there that I was like "say what?!" to, even I knew better than to follow that advice, I need to return it.

That Kind Of Person
because he's "her pet and she loves him", it's really frustrating.

That Kind Of Person
An update on Buddy: she decided to keep him I really hate it when people say "it's just a bird" too.

Cockroaches
I made Phil go harass the managers. I think they want to run when they see me coming, I'm always making them come fix something. I'll go and pick up some roach motels tomorrow. Ew I hate rats too, the barn has the world's best rat catching kitties. I've seen one of them getting rabbits bigger than she is. One of their dogs catches them and plays catch with them (it's really gross).

Cockroaches
Hopefully they'll do something - we have 150+ apartments in the building. I think I just found out why they're sticking around - there's probably a whole box of cereal under the fridge (I don't eat cereal so it's probably been there a while), I think they might be eating stuff at the bottom of the bird cages as well soI'll start changing papers nightly rather than every other day.

Cockroaches
OMG I just hate them. When we lived in Mississippi there were just thousands of them in the house. Last night I had dreams that roaches were climbing on me. The only 2 things I'm afraid of are roaches and bee like things. Until this year I thought that roaches couldn't live in Minnesota... I'm going to try removing the duct covers and putting a screen in them and stuff steel wool into the places where they can come in from behind the walls, I'll place the roach baits where Amira can't get into them (Buster won't eat anything unless Amira does). I'm so paranoid, a baby roach can live in a place the size of a dime and an adult the size of a quarter. I think that the problem might be my neighbors, the people that live upstairs have a bunch of little kids and the people who lived here before January were just foul and unclean.

Cockroaches
I could take them over to my apartment but I don't think they can bug bomb the apartment because our ducts are interconnected with 3 other apartments and roaches just come right back anyway. I don't know how well harassing the managers works: last year we had a rotting garbage smell coming out of the central air and a sludge that came through the ceiling tiles and they came out a few times and said "oh this is foul" but never found what it was... it took 5 months for them to fix the problem. I'd have to get all of this done reeeally soon, I finally found a subleaser to take over my portion of the lease, she plans on moving in June 1 or maybe a week before.

Cockroaches
When Phil moved into his apartment he was told "the previous tenants think they might have seen a cockroach" weeell now I'm seeing them ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!! I'm soooo grossed out. We complained to the managers months ago and "they'll send someone out"... no one ever came. We had roach bait out but I can't leave them in the places where they've been seen because I found Amira playing with one she found behind the garbage can (luckily I saw it right away) http://www.ehw.org/Asthma/ASTH_Cockroach_Control.htm I found this website and it recommends trying borate powder and I wanted to get you guys to weigh in on it. I'd be putting it under the stove and fridge. I've tried all of the preventative measures, I'm a total neat freak so I don't even know what they could be finding that's worth coming back for, the only place that they could be coming from is in the heating ducts and under the door. I'm not sure if it's worth putting a poison near where my birdies play, I would never ever forgive myself if they got sick or died from it. Do you guys know of anything that's safe to use around birds that will kill the roaches?
