  1. Love it when adversity is overcome I still have my one legged budgie Pegleg Pete http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=22658&view=findpost&p=267683&hl=%2Bpegleg+%2Bpete&fromsearch=1 he flies, he perches and he climbs ladders all with one leg.
  2. Important to not only consider temperature but draughts and moisture like rain getting in too
  3. Dilute can be hit and miss .....it can pop up anywhere even after several clutches with none. And since the expectations of pairings goes over ten clutches or so and you get a mix each time they are paired together, you may not get a dilute for 8 or 9 clutches . I have had a dilute pop out of unexpected parents as has a whole lot of other people I know.
  4. we have always had the warn status.................... only you see your own warn status. It applies to when we have trouble makers on the forum and they get a formal warning ( or two or three or four ) before we have to resort to banning them for outrageous behaviour on the forum. If nothing has happened to yours it just means you have behaved yourself well while here
  5. okay, I will. It can be a dad and daughter wood work project. LOL As I am not good with saws at all. How many toys do you think it would take? At the moment he only has the two in his cage from above. A ladder and a swing and two others ?
  6. When you get it take out the perches and cut them to fit front to back on each side of the cage.
  7. The cage you just posted is exactly the same flight cage I suggested...same size and type
  8. No mirrors.......they mess with budgies heads Leave a radio going while you arent at home as silence is a sign of danger to them and a radio resembles the chatter of a flock.
  9. Your friend has some wrong ideas. If your budgie is being trained by you to be a tame budgie its best there is just you..........no other budgies. If you put it in the aviary each day you will undo any training her has. No....he wont die of loneliness or try and kill himself. your friend has some really odd ideas
  10. based on a duty of care we have to employ here on this forum in particular to younger members we give the answer thats its best to stop breeding hens at age 4 years due to high incidence of eggbinding and or prolapse. Many younger member have to rely on Mums and dads who in a lot of cases wont take a bird to the vet if its in trouble. Hence the advice. However I also stop hens breeding at age 4 years for the very same reasons as do a lot of other people as well.
  11. Hi I had to remove your telephone contact as per forum rules. You can be contacted through private message and that will send you an email alert if you have set it up for that. The budgie is called a yellowface blue and it is a 2008 bred bird from show stock 5TOV is the breeders code. I hope he finds his home.
  12. I am enjoying this blog of yours GB
  13. I say go with your instincts and that pairing off in the aviary means very little once they are in a breeding cabinet with another budgie of the opposite sex and in view of a nestbox. Aviary "friends" will be a distant memory once they have that nestbox and the inclination to breed.
  14. It was the top photo that looked like dried blood
  15. I would consider that cage small. I think a wide rectangular cage would be better....whats called a flight cage. Look in the cages forum for the article CAGES....RIGHT OR WRONG? The flight cages are 60cms by 41cms by 41cms or 24inches by 16 inches by 16 inches. If you got one like that you could use the smaller cage as transport cage for to and from the vets etc.
  16. Check that babies tail..... seems to be bloody from plucking and that can damage chances for a full tail to grow in if the Mum keeps at it.
  17. The cage is great. Could you set up the perches so there is one good one each side and the budgie can fly back and forth across the cage for exercise. Budgies prefer their cages with perches that way. Might help in the recovery
  18. Excellent advice...maybe you can do a topic on this with photos ?
  19. If this was the case there would be a lot of blood as hens fighting each other do a lot of damage.
  20. Toothless is dominant pied.
  21. That legs looking way better thanks to you. He's a very lucky bird. And he's also a very nice looking recessive pied. Some show breeder most likely lost him from their aviary.
  22. Sorry to hear about the snake Splat. You can do without worries like that.
  23. Yep I trawl around there hoping some people see sense and join this forum. Better advice here than anywhere
  24. The mites that affect legs swelling around rings cannot be seen. Hows the leg looking ? Any heat in it ? Any infection ? Photo ?
