hi there, most budgies just sleep on their perch but i know of some that hang on the sides of the cages. are you sure that he/she is only 3 weeks old? i didn't think they were ready to leave their mum until 6 weeks? im not sure though so one of the experts here will probably tell you. I always gave my birds tap water but with my new one ive started given him bottled water. only because the last time i was at the vets he mentioned that a lot of owners give their birds bottled water - thought their might be a reason for it but i don't know what. Can't wait to see pictures!

thats great thanks very much. yeah it has been hard not to compare him to cheeky but i'm over that now - i've seen that his wee personality is totally different.

Hiya, i was just wondering how long it takes to finger train a budgie?? We only got Oscar a couple of days ago and i think he's doing great. today we let him out of the cage for a wee fly and it went well - he didn't really have any accidents. He managed to sit on my foot and my arm but only managed to go on my finger/hand when he was too tired to fly away. has anybody got any good tips? it has been so long since i trained cheeky, i can't quite remember what to do!! :fear

Thanks Helen, i think i will do that. i'm planning to move out at then end of next year so i think i might wait till this time next year and get him a wee friend then, so he's not on his own when im at work.

oh i don't know what to do!! he's doing great just now and he loves it when you talk to him. i was hoping he would be bonded to us first then when i get him a wee friend it would be much easier. oh its soo hard!!
