  1. So you have a chance of 50% white faces if the 1 YF is a single factor.

  6. This is a wonderful story , I moved it to Budgie Talk
  7. MB you are cracking me up along with Liv and I love the comment when you print it too FUNNY. Kaz you are awesome!!!!!!! Congrats
  8. Spangles are beautiful, that is the look that someone penciled the outer part of their wings vs the marking in the middle. You will have a 50% change of Spangle babies. Opaline is the head marking reversed that is on the hen there you will only have males split (they will not be visible for opaline) you will only have opaline babies if the dad is carrying the gene but you can't tell because he needs 2 Opaline genes to actually express it visually.
  9. If both parents are single factor Yellow Face you do have 25% chance of White Faces If 1 parent is a single factor Yellow Face and the other White Face you have a 50% of White Faced Then comes in the double factor white face.
  10. He is so scruffy but it makes him so adorable, I know I shouldn't say that but he is a doll.

  14. What an experience
  15. BUT isn't if they are carrying 2 yelllowface genes they are a white face visually but actually a double factor yellow face.
  16. That is wonderful, I had to do the same thing with Pretty he always went back to his cage too.
  17. I have heard that the black is carbon the candles I burn don't have that issue which is nice. It is always wise to take all the information as you have and make the best decision for your home.
  18. Great idea!... but I have no idea how to set up the poll thing etc that goes with a caption competition, but feel free to use my picture if you'd like to set one up, NN! Ah...pics never wasted sometimes it is just fun to see the pics ...
  19. You hit 12,000 posts today :wine
  20. his color may change after a couple molts then stay the same it may become more vibrant and darker? It is always interesting to see how they do molt out, I know Pretty's color of blue became so much more brighter of a sky blue and Merlin his coloring really stayed the same, in the sun Merlin looks almost purplish.
  21. The 2 new blues should be in quarantine for 30 days before they met your new birds. If you want more blues and want 100% guarantee then yes 2 blues is best BUT you will need to wait after the quarntine period. If these 2 are bonded, you have already put in a nesting box and they haven't shown signs of mating yet you could take out the box and then pair them up differently. Green is common but so is blue, you will find greys are less common at least here in my area they are.

Yes (but it always grows back) Have you ever dyed your hair an unconventional color other then (brown, black, blond, red)
  23. Here is something I have noticed, my mother in-law burns candles in every room and when I got Merlin back he had brown above his nostrils, I showed Kaz and she said it was most likely a respiratory irritation. I think it was from the candles, cleaners and air fresheners she uses (that I advised her NOT to use around him). Now at my house he is in my office off the living room and in the kitchen I burn a paper wick soft wax candle everyday and I don't have any issues. He is also not in the same room. When he is out make sure all candles are out, don't burn in the same room and if you see nasal discharge or irritation I suggest not using it. It is not that the fumes are natural or not but how strong they are and birds respiratory linings are so delicate that they can be irritated when ours are not.
  24. As if they are good to pair together they look so they are the pet variety vs the show variety. The Green one is a Green Dominant Pied The Blue one is an Sky Blue Opaline Dominant Pied Your outcomes: ( I don't do exact % some do I just do from the top of my head) Green is a dominant color over blue so unless your GREEN bird is carrying the blue gene all your babies will be 100% greens 100% Dominant Pieds Your male birds will be split to opaline but you won't have any female opalines in this batch since Opaline is a Sex-Linked Gene. You can always have surprises in the nest because there are both recessive genes that both parents can carry that can come out OR the male could be carrying a sex-linked gene such as ino, opaline etc..and these birds that would have this mutation would all be hens. Some of this may not make sense so feel free to ask questions. That top picture is cute, you should enter it for Budgie of the Month under Competitions.
