My Budgies
Alo and Emmett have now become best buddies. They like to have "guy time" together, while Emmett isn't caring to Saffy's every whim and need (she's an old gal, she sometimes needs a little help and Emmett is there for her even though she doesn't like to admit she needs help. Emmett is starting to show the characteristics I chose him for - bobbing his head at everything and going spazzy - he must feel like he has settled in now. I just gave the budgies some spinach leaves in a bowl of water and they are loving it. They are having a ball of a time bathing in it and eating it at the same time. Robbie just feed me some seeds. he is so cute, he went all kissy and happy dance.

Wormer In The Water
Ooo, poor thing. I hope he is okay. Just feed him lots and lots of millet from your hand. That's what I did with my little budgie, when she had a feather in her nostril. I had to catch her and pick her nose, she did NOT like it. But as soon as I finished, I gave her the largest amount of millet she has ever had to her. And she forgave me.

Some Pics To Share..:)
Haha, yeah, I'm like that too. I have 12 budgies and only 1 of them is actually a yellow-based green.

Purple
I have a visual violet in my siggy. She is in the top right hand corner and is called Nikio. The picture isn't that good though, so it doesn't show her vibrant colour as well as real life, but you get the idea.

Safe/Unsafe Items for your birds
I would think that most nut trees would be poisonous. Like cashew is poisonous.

Blue Feet?
Most of my budgies have pink feet (infact all apart from Arkady, whose are purple) and I don't have any inos or pieds.

What To Do With Robbie?
Oh, haha, it is a very wide cage. It is actually closer to 3 foot. But I don't have an inch ruler with me, just the good ol' cm ruler. It is almost 3 rulers long, which apparently a 30 cm ruler is about 1 foot long. If it was wider, I don't think I could fit it in my room (Laughing out loud). It has a square foot print rather than rectangle so it is pretty good. I have twelve budgies in it at the moment. I plan to get a cage like your Elly for their Summer vacation, when I have to move them back home for the summer. I'll have 6 in that cage and 4 in my other white cage. I don't know what I'll do with the 11th budgie. hmm.

What To Do With Robbie?
It's my big cage. 5'5'' tall 2'6'' wide and deep, I guess. This one: Spot the budgie (Laughing out loud). These are old pictures.

Our New Budgie Likes Youtube!
hahaha, that is so cute. I like the video response to that video, with the other little budgies trying to find and talk to the "budgie in the box".

Making Natural Perches
Maple, eucalyptus, poplar, apple are all good tree branches. Bea couldn't you also wash the washers (hahahah (Laughing out loud)) with a vinegar water mix too, just to be on the extra safe side. Or maybe you could paint them to seal in any nasties if there is any.

Whats The Difference!
Their patterning is somewhat different too (although in some cases they can be confused between each other). In a dom. pied the pied part is usually on the bottom half of the body and in a rec. pied the pied part is on the top half of the body.

New Aviary Completed
Hi Sailorwolf Being a Kiwi I know what you mean about the fly screen straps they use in dairies, but when you talk about dairies the rest of the world think cows, not corner stores!! haha (Laughing out loud), I so didn't know that other countries didn't call them that. hahahah (Laughing out loud)

New Avairy
One thing you have to be carefull about, in keeping computers near birds, is the little mites and things that live in the feather dust, crawl into your computer. I used to keep my old laptop next my budgie cage, a mite crawled in my laptop, behind the screen and then died there . So now whenever I use that thing there is a dead mite, right in the middle of the screen.

Euthanasia
One of the major problems with pet birds is that they are all prey animals and they don't show pain very easily at all, if at all. Because in the wild, to show pain means certain death, because a predator will seek a sick bird out rather than a healthy bird that would be hard to catch. I have experienced this first hand, when Saffron got her foot caught in a rope toy, which completely occluded the circulation to her foot. The actual act of occlusion doesn't hurt, but it is when the constriction, and thus occlusion, is removed it hurts like you would not believe (we had to do experiments on ourselves in physiology prac). Of course I had to release Saffron's foot or else she would have lost it. She did not make a sound, she only bit me extra hard. But if I didn't know any better, I would have thought she was in minimal pain. Thus knowing when a bird is in pain can be quite a grey area. They may appear okay, but they may not actually be okay. It is your responsibility as the animal's carer to decide when the bird is not enjoying life anymore, but as I have made an example of above, this can be extremely difficult. I always like to think where there's life there's hope. I think this applies to an animal that does not wish to leave this place just yet. The point of this whole topic is to let people know that it is okay to decide to euthanise their pet, if they believe its quality of life has degenerated so far that it has no quality of life.
