I think they breed as much as they wanna breed. The guy up the road from me said he has a hen who will lay and lay. he really wants her to stop but she won't. She seems in good health too for a hen that lays allot. Edited March 31, 2013 by L__J Link to comment

I think that they died in the shell =( its been too long though, its been over 23 days for the youngest egg. ( so should i remove them to allow them to lay more and should i number the next lot of eggs?) Link to comment

If she lays before this sometimes she will attack chicks still in nest box. If you want second round you can wait and watch. If she attacks chicks you will have to move fast or she may even kill them. Maybe remove chicks to floor of cage so Dad can keep feeding them, (at about 3-4 weeks old that is) that's worst case event. They can have 2-3 rounds in a row. 2 maybe, but 3 is taking a lot out of parents so not advisable to go more than 2. After a few months rest same pair may come into breeding condition again. It's up to you and your set up if you breed them again. Instead of removing eggs that seem overdue. I'd mark those eggs, then you will be able to tell any new eggs. Link to comment

But I promised someone 2 babies, but i want to keep first 2, so I will try one more round and see how it goes. you keep checking took me about 3 months for some to come up. You could talk them down a bit. I talked 45 off mine. I am a bit confused with the second paragraph, could you please explain it differently? Link to comment
