I got my budgie (Dimitri) 2 days ago.

He loves to eat a lot. When I go out of my room he is always busy with his honey seed log thing lol or singing.

When I come back he stops eating then he goes back to his perch and closes his eyes and is less active.

I talk to him all the time and even leave my hand in for a bit so he gets used to me.

I haven't gotten him any toys yet.. maybe he is bored, or still scared of me?

Thanks :P

Lol just for a second then he climbed down, had a feed, walked around, went back on his perch then started singing (or what I think is singing) for a short time.Does he just have some funny character?

If you only got him 2 days ago, then he would not be used to you by now.

He eats when he feels safe, so when he stops eating it is because he is nervous.

You will notice that he will also stop chirping when he feels threatened.

All of this is instinct. He will get used to you, so he will eventually eat when he is hungrya nd chirp when he sees you in excitement.

When you are putting your hand there, try holding millet in your hand, so he learns to associate your hand with positives.

I have started hand feeding Dimitri millet spray.

He ate from my hand 2 days already. I was so happy :)

He also eats and grooms himself when I am around so I think it's a good sign so far :(

Could he be chirping happily when I am in the room doing my own thing?.. because he does that.

:(
