Hi everyone here is a picture of my new birdie!! When he was in the shop we thought he was blue and white, however when we got him home he turned out to be exactly like Cheeky!! Am a bit upset as he's so similar but he is beautiful and ill give him lots of love! by the way, is he a boy? any names would be appreciated!

looks boy and he is super cute :fear

Name suggestions: Gemini, Pisces, Flavian (means yellow blond - for his yellow head :P, Flavien which means yellow haired, Bowie means yellow haired too, Boyd meaning blond

you can see where I am taking this (Laughing out loud)

Nila in India means blue

Rigel blue star

I always like names with meaning that is just me, glad you finally found yourself a new baby, hugs and kiss from Pretty and Merlin!!!

Congratulations Cheeky! He/she's a beautiful little budgie.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure on the sex there... I'd hazard a guess that you might have a little girl, but I'm really not very good at knowing that, especially once their head stripes have gone. I thought the cere changed around the same time as their stripes went. I'm probably completely off.

Well, whichever he/she is, you've got a real cuteypie.

I can see why you're disappointed about having another that looks like Cheeky, but you know that this one'll have its own unique little personality and you'll soon be just as in love as you were with Cheeky. I wish you the best of luck with training and bonding and I hope she settles in well.

*edit* hmm... must have been posting at the same time as lovey... just ignore my comments about the sex. I'm still learning!

p.s. How old is he? Do you know?

it does actually still have the stripes although i think it has lost a couple you just can't really see it in the photo. its wee nose is pink too so im hoping for a boy. not really sure how old he is but the guy in the pet shop said he was about 8 weeks. he was horrible though!!

ohhhh so cute!

Adorable budgie Cheeky :fear

How was the guy in the shop horrible?... sorry being nosey!

he was just not very nice. when he grabbed the bird he was quite rough then he just plonked the box into a bag. wasn't helpful at all when i asked questions and he didn't even tell me how to look after him!!! just as well i know!

I understand that is what they mainly did with Pretty.

I would say the age is correct, Merlin's stripes are low and with that pink of a cere he is young. :fear

hi guys thanks very much for the suggestions i think we have decided on Oscar! what do you think?

I like it, it fits him perfectly!! I meant to say that Merlin's stripes are light too and with Oscar being an opaline I think they would be light naturally.

I love the name Oscar as lovey says it suits him :fear

Shame on the guy in the pet shop.. they really need to sort out their staff in these shops after it is live stock they are dealing with!

ha ha i don't know what to do. i was really hoping to train Oscar up and get him a friend next year. would it not be really hard trying to train 2 babies at the same time?

Would be harder I reckon Ali, but that didn't stop me getting more birds - it depends if you want them to bond with you or each other. I myself get great pleasure watching them interact with each other.

Up to you - I myself would buy the birdie hehe.

oh i don't know what to do!! he's doing great just now and he loves it when you talk to him. i was hoping he would be bonded to us first then when i get him a wee friend it would be much easier. oh its soo hard!! :)
