Hello, My budgie is about 3 months old, now, he stil has little black eyes. His Cere, The thing above his beak, is pink, Boys have blue, girls have brown, is he to young to tell? And can you tell another way? I heard if it has patterns under its wings its a girl or something. Thanks :ausb: :ausb:

Can you post a picture at all especially showing a clear shot of the front of it's little face. The wings doesn't mean anything. Some types of budgie don't have a pink for girls, blue for boys cere especially if they are recessive pieds or albinos etc. Welcome to the forum

The cere doesn't start to go blue or brown until they are about 3-6 months old. Generally when they are babies smooth pink means boy, purply white with white rings around the nostrils usually mean girl. Girls can also be a light tan colour as well.

The fact that you could say clearly that he had/has a pink cere I would say you have a male. He will start to fade to change to a purply blue and end as a bright blue.

Yessss!! Haha, these photos were taken today by the way hehe. Yay! I am glad that its a male. Arn't males better talkers?

Poor baby. He looks so motheaten and bedraggled. Hope he is better soon. He looks perky and alert enough anyway

I have heard females can too but males are supposed to pick it up faster. I have had Pretty for 9 months and this week he has started to talk clearer. Merlin is a baby so we will see if he picks it up from Pretty when they are introduced.
