Well a few of my birds like the hamster wheel and every few weeks I'll see a new bird try it. Today it was Tweety.

Very Cool. It's great when you see them play and invent new ways of playing. I have two boys that have discovered the joys of a log with two holes to enter. They dive in through one hole and come out of the other and will this for ages. But I love the hamster wheel idea.

that is so funny! i didn't think a budgie would go in a hamster wheel!!! Does she actually run on it??

Oh yes. Sometimes they hook they claws to the side while it is spinning and end up hanging upside down rocking back and forth. Can never get to my camera fast enough. It is hilarious!

okay you convinced me I am going to buy one, Pretty probably won't do it but I bet Merlin would.

My wheel hung in the cage for a long time and nobody used it. Finally when I put it up high they started to explore it. There were even two in it this afternoon. They weren't spinning it, just sitting but I'm pleased they are all giving it a chance. Even my chubby budgie Beka was in it. Maybe she'll walk off a few grams :offtopic:

It may take them a bit of time to get used to it, but once they get the hang of it, they should have some fun - and so will you watching them

My budgie likes the hamster wheel too. We have a hamster and she have three wheels so Ässä got one of them.

How long did it take for your budgies to try it out?

Initially they would just run or crawl through it to get to the other side. I'd say about a month to a month and a half before one was running in it.
