I read that when you breed your babies you should put them in a cage away from all adults so that they don't have any competition etc.

I have my big main cage 165cm (69") high by 89cm (35") wide by 89cm deep

and when I breed the babies there will only be two other budgies in there. Should I put the babies into a seperate cage entirely, (one of the others listed above) or put them into that cage with the other adults straight after weaning?

Which cage should I use for breeding and which cage should I put the babies into after they have been separated from their parents?

Thanks for your help

Your Cages are fine.

My Breeding cages are 600 long x 445 high x 380 deep. They also act as a nursary cage.

This is an old photo... *got to update it* Where the box on the right is I now havean extra Breeding cage and two Nursary Cages. both nursaries can be changed into Breeding cages to give 9 Breeding cages.

Your first cage is a bit logner than the one I used as a breeding cage:

That would work fine, and you can use the small black one as a go between or simply move the parents back with the others and leave the babies in the white cage. If you're only doing one clutch, it easy to remove the box and leave the family together.

Great cages!

Id agree with Nerwen! Id say put breeding pair in white smaller cage, and other non breeding guys in the biggest 'aviary'....then keep black one as a spare...

Then when/if the breeding pair has babies, once weaned, or once the hen is finished laying, and feeding the 1st round of babies, move them to the black cage for a bit to monitor eating, then keep the breeding pair in the white smaller cage. This way, they can have 2 clutches, and as soon as the last baby from clutch 2 is 5 weeks old, remove nest box, even if theres an egg, and keep them all together....unless by this time the 1st batch is in the huge cage, then the 1nd batch of babies can go in the black cage...

Did i ramble on, or do you fallow me? (Laughing out loud)
