Hi all

I just got my first budgie yesterday with a 18" long cage. This is temporary because the shop was shutting and i cannot find anything i like in the shop. After some internet browsing, i've come across a cage that i like. Can you please let me know what you think of it? I want to move him/her into a bigger home as soon as possible!!

Here is what i am planning to get. I only plan to have one budgie. By the way, i am in the UK.

Wow, that looks like a great cage. I think your little budgie would love it in there. Although personally I don't like the open top. I've heard horror stories about bird being killed by those kind of top.

Cheeta do you mind me asking if you have any more information on that story? I'm interested to know how it happened for future reference for anyone planning on these cages.

I've heard of the top falling and closing on birds that were playing on or around it. I've also heard of birds getting stuck at the top because of the gap made even when the open top is in its closed position. Most of the parrot people I know who have playtop cages keep them closed at all times.

Looks like a good cage but what people have said is a bit poop.

How about the ferplast mini brio here:

Thats still got quite a bit of space and I've heard of people getting those cages from that site before with good feedback. They also stock these in Pets At Home if you'd like to go look there or buy from them. Its also cheaper than that cage, which can't be bad. Theres also the Ferplast Brio just underneath, slightly bigger and slightly more expensive but still a great cage.

Thanks folks. I've decided to go for it due to the space available and it fits in better overall with my living room. I'll be careful with the open top. Anyway, i think budgies will be less of a problem than parrots as ther are much smaller and not as strong.

Will try to post some picts once i've got it delivered.

Just got a phone call from the company. They said i have to wait at least 5 weeks because it has to be shipped from abroad! I think i might look at some other alternatives now. Any other cage suggestions are very welcome. Note that i am in the UK though.
