Posted April 30, 200619 yr My husband and I decided to build a playgym for Bobby over the weekend. It is not quite finished yet, I still need to adorn it with my artistic touch add a couple of swings, toys and food cups, and hubbby will put a frame on it as well. Here it is so far... Day one Hmm not too sure about this It might be okay... I will add more pics once it's finished properly! Edited April 30, 200619 yr by Riebie
April 30, 200619 yr I like the archway when you are done you will have to let us know all the materials you used for your great toys.
April 30, 200619 yr Absolutely wonderful ! I love the ladder type bridge and the way you have used the rope. An excellent combined effort from both of you. WOW !!
April 30, 200619 yr Author Thanks guys, I love it so far, it's going to look great when I'm finished! Oh if anyone noticed the picture in the last image of the little girl, that was me 23 years ago!!!!
April 30, 200619 yr Author No BB - my attitude hasn't changed!!! Hmm what happened!!! Edited April 30, 200619 yr by Riebie
May 1, 200619 yr Author Nope, we made it from scratch!! I "borrowed" the design off some that I saw online, then tweaked it to make it my own!! Shhh Oh Bea - where did you get those little plastic chains that you have on yours?? Edited May 1, 200619 yr by Riebie
May 1, 200619 yr Author Well the green feathers have been destroyed already... I've just been out to buy more accessories to make a swing and more toys!! He is starting to warm up to it!!! I suppose I should give credit to the website that inspired me.... http://www.birdgymsrus.com/ It probably would have been cheaper in the long run to buy one, but oh well - it was fun!! June 3, 200618 yr Author Well it's been a while but I have finally finished the playgym! Well for now anyway! I decided it needed another level and more toys.... For two budgies you know... there needs to be room :(Laughing out loud): So here it is - the finished product - except I still need to attach a border to the two upper levels and I think the top level needs another toy!! Any ideas??? Close up of the upper level The two lower levels And the whole lot from a different angle!! The birds love it!! And FYI - I made the ladder by using 2 strands of 2mm fencing wire and screwing tiny little brass eye screws into each end of all the dowel rungs, I then slid the beads onto the wire, then a rung and continued until the end. For the ends I got a small block of wood and drilled two holes in it and threaded the wire through. The bottom of the wooden block had a groove cut into it so the wire threaded through bent in and sat flat underneath. Then it was screwed onto the second level! I just used plastic beads.... June 3, 200618 yr Author I have fixed it now!!! I actually let them meet a couple of days ago, I couldn't wait any longer, they were calling out to each other so much, and Sunny hasn't had a minutes trouble since his first week!!! They aren't the best of friends yet, Sunny is a bully!! I will post pics tomorrow!! Edited June 3, 200618 yr by Riebie
June 3, 200618 yr Wow look at that gym!! Lucky birdies! that looks like great fun.. I bet it was fun to make and get all creative for it!!
August 12, 200717 yr These are some toys i made for the tiels and budgies yesterday. Just a stringy beady one, the tiels will like playing with the beads. A paddle pop stick and bead one, and look what it says Bails (as in Bailee, i didn't have any O's or E's or Cookie would've got one too) A dragonfly-ish toy A chain toy i restored with rope and beads A braided toy with beads, a bell and a domino to play with \ And the most awesome one for last! A wiffle ball, bead and rope toy! Used up all i had left of my cotton rope, but it's so cool i don't care. Here's a few pics of Cookie and Bailee playing with them, the budgies are more cautious of new toys, so no photos of them playing yet. Cookie looks around at the new toys, she nibbles one... But looking beautiful is more important! Bailee plays with the "Bails" toy when he realises something so cool! "Mum, it says my name!" Edited August 15, 200717 yr by Bea
August 12, 200717 yr I've been meaning to do this for ages!!! I finally made my own natural perches tonight. I got the stainless steel hardware from www.myparrotshop.com for much cheaper than i have been able to find them locally, so i'm happy! I took the bark off because it looks prettier, hehe! Close up of the hardware end. For the second perch i added beads and buttons and stuff to chew! It's a play-perch! :ausb: Now i've just got to decide who gets what perch! :budgiedance:
