My birds LOVE broccoli. I had to laugh as I watched Beka the other day. She was almost burying her head in the floret. And then she had the broccoli beard to prove it.

Pretty loves it too Shawna, he stands on top of it to get the florets in the back, it really is the only veggie he goes that nuts for.

Cute pictures.. She's really pretty, all of mine like their broccoli, but Bunny gets really excited about it. They like spinach quite a bit too.

Mine like romaine and spinach too but not really much else. I've tried carrot, mushroom, apple, strawberry. Carrots and mushroom get no response at all. They've pecked at apples and strawberries. But the broccoli disappears down to the stem. I've been giving some hard boiled egg too and they will pick at it. Have you tried any other "human" foods?

Blinks is obsessed with it too! But, i can never get a photo of his brocolli moustache cause he shakes it off before i can get the picture.

I have tried everything you have, I clip the romaine lettuce but he just eats the drops of water off of it, at one point I had some pretty good success when I made a mixture of veggies and fruits and put seed with it. Brocolli is really the only thing right now he digs for, I am going to try califlower because it is shaped the same way and see what happens.

All my budgies hate broccoli They kill for corn and bok choy but even if I disguise the broccoli they find it and toss it out !!

Beka is stunning, and good for her to eat healthy foods! Mine like brocolli too, as well as lettuce, and celery, but HATE carrots, do yours like carrots?

I can't get mine to eat anything other than seeds. I'll have to try some more things to see if peer pressure can play its game with them and make them eat it.

I can take months...try chopping it up or even blending it together and adding seed to it, that is what I did with Pretty. The brocolli was an evil thing one day he just did it and went to town. I tried carrots he tried it and left it there. So they really do have a taste for what they want. Really try and convert though because an all seed diet is not healthy.

Peer pressure might help. I know my newest four wouldn't touch broccoli until they went in the cage with the other four. Now everybody WANTS it.

I tried broc last summer, they didn't care for it at all. They are really into mustard greens right now. BUT, I always mix sprouts with their lettuce, corn, and carrot "salad" they have a new type of sprout at the market, is a broc sprout. I will have to give it a try!

Yes Kirby. They are all together now and doing very well except for the night time squabbles. I'm enjoying watching how they relate to one another and hope to see some natural pairings form. I have ideas about which birds I would like to see mate, but would like to interfere as little as possible. It is so funny how they all want to do the same things. They all eat at the same time, play at the same time, rest at the same time. And even with the big cage, they all tend to congregate on one side or the other. They definately are a flock.

 

Where are the pics of your new cage and set up??? I will post a few more in the cages and aviaries set up soon.

 

As for carrots - well definately not. I forgot to mention they have pecked at cauliflower some - a second choice to broccoli. Celery was not a hit either. How do you give them the celery. I just hung a big long stalk in the cage. It probably scared them.

Ooh, the broccoli sprout sounds like it would be a hit!!! I keep meaning to buy seed for sprouts. My seed is full of veggie bits and egg and I'm sure I'd end up with a big moldy mess.

aww gorgeous!!! Cheeky used to love brocolli too! used to get completely covered in it!

She looks like she's really enjoying that.

 

My two will only eat carrot. I can't get them to touch anything green, not even the carrot tops I leave attached. I'm growing some grass for them at the minute that I got off featheredpet's website, so I'll have to see if they go for it. I hope they do. I know having carrot is better than no veg at all, but I'd love it if they could have more variety in their diet.

It was very cute! He hated carrots too!

None of my budgies like broccoli even though I still feed them it almost everyday. Carrot is a faves of their though. Only Noo Noo my tiel will devour broccoli.

Loui would not touch any human food, at all, until I got Lizzie and he saw Lizzie eat it, now he eats almost anything I give them.

Lizzie is a little piglet though, I think she has as much fun throwing the food all over the place as she does eating it, I have to get one of those treat holders for them.
