Posted March 30, 200619 yr Hi, I just noticed on one of my budgies (a pied who I thought was a recessive) has a dark eye and an eye with a very prominent white/cream eye ring!! Is that common??? would that then make her a dominant pied because of the eye ring in one eye?? I'll have to get photos, but my batteries are being charged currently, so may be tomrrow... :bluebudgie: Any clue/idea anyone?? Thanks Cheeta
March 30, 200619 yr that would make her a double factor dominate pied Edited March 30, 200619 yr by lovey
March 30, 200619 yr Half n half hehehe. Not sure but I bet it looks really cute. I have a yellowface opaline spangle who never got any iris rings at all and as far as I am aware she contains no recessive in her at all. Sometimes things dont have an explanation I guess as my bird SHOULD have these and especially at almost 1 year old!
March 30, 200619 yr Author Double Factor dominant pied... Interesting... I should get some pics and post it here....
April 19, 200619 yr Author okay, I finally got pics of my budgie with only one iris ring. :bluebudgie: Here's a picture of her right eye, the one with the ring... A close up of that eye.... And here's the other side. As black as anything!!! Close up of that eye... And here's a picture oh her hanging out with one of her buddy.
April 19, 200619 yr hmmm... the close-up of the 'no ring' eye looks like it has a ring to me, albeit a much darker one than the other eye. I don't know if it happens in budgies at all, but one of my dogs has different coloured eyes, and I knew a person once who had a green and a brown eye. Perhaps it's just like that.
April 20, 200619 yr Author I had to have a double check on her.. :hap: I think there's something there, I mean like a darker spot in the middle, like the pupil or soemthing, then the bit outside it, but it is an Iris ring really. I checked my recessive pied in the aviary, their eyes look like it's the same as that eye. if that made sense.
