Posted March 28, 200619 yr I'm just wondering if the one on here with flocks (or a group of inside budgies) can help. I'm just wondering if any of your bird make the angry dophlin noise or a grumbling noise often? Latly mine seemt o be always screaminga t the top of their lungs to drown each other out with noise. I'm not sure if it's becuase the ones in the cage can hear the ones in my room. (yes both lot start the noise with each other) Or if one is cranky with others in the cage. Normally it's Freckle making the noise but it can be any of them. Just wondering if this is normal or I have have problem maker somewhere.
March 28, 200619 yr ***pppssssttttt...I have some inside budgies...*** When they start that noise, are there any other signs of aggression? Like competition for a toy or perching spot, or fresh food or a treat? Mine will do that only when in competition for something. And yes, competition does include the attention of another bird. Usually it doesn't last very long. If yours are doing it for long periods of time, you might have an unhappy camper who is dissatisfied with something. Has anything around the cage changed?
March 28, 200619 yr Mine generally do that when requiring more of their own airspace or perch space. It usually involves making someone move that they dont particular want next to them. Nothing major. Its just establishing the pecking order. Edited March 28, 200619 yr by budgiebird
March 28, 200619 yr LOL, yep - "that spot where you are sitting looks better than this one. MOVE!!" Or better still..."this is now my cage. All the rest of you can just leave. NOW!!" Competition for something.
March 28, 200619 yr Author Dang i was afraid it was down to something like that. Ringo still wants her dad now that little brother isn't around any more. Freckle get unhappy with they are near each other or when she is near Ringo. Sigh. Either I get another to pair Ringo to which I can't really do right now or put her or Freckle in a cage along, Pie hates being away from Freckle and Ringo hates to be alone also Frekcle likes the rope perch. I think I need to do a bit of rearanging of the cage to settle this a bit. Edited March 28, 200619 yr by Nerwen
March 28, 200619 yr Good luck Nerwen. I'm finding lately that rearranging the cage doesn't work as well anymore. It has just gotten the birds more comfortable with change. **sigh** This is a good thing, I know, but still...... It used to work fine, now it just seems like they all check out the cages, decide where they want to stake territory (ie which toys look best today or which dish has the best looking food in it) and get on with being their little birdie selves.
March 28, 200619 yr Author (Laughing out loud) can see Freckle doing just that. But I haven't done a big change to the cage since.....i think when I first got it!! other than giving them leaffy branches to chew which made a different area of the cage the best spot each time and moving the food a bit each time they started to grumble over them.
March 28, 200619 yr I know this too well with Tobi she does the angry dolphin noise almost constantly whenever she cant get her own way or even sometimes when she has and is terrified someone will come try steal whatever she has claimed. She also ack ack acks a lot too. She is really the only bird I have who is like this and the others tolerate her most of the time otherwise I would have real problems.!
March 28, 200619 yr Author :(Laughing out loud): even sometimes when she has and is terrified someone will come try steal whatever she has claimed I think Freckle does that too. I hear the angry noise and go out to see and she is on the rope while the others are miles way from her yet she is screaming her head off. I did notice yesterday that the seem to all settle in the afternoon. before the grumbling for sleeping spots start up. Edited March 28, 200619 yr by Nerwen
March 29, 200619 yr Luckily I dont have that problem I did and thats why they are all seperated now 2 per cage with a swing each - I had real problems when they did share and it was always Candy who got pushed off his swing. Tobi again was the bird causing all the problems. Patty often does too. I only ever have trouble with the girls though.
March 29, 200619 yr Author Well with fingers crossed I might have a bigger and better cage for them, where I can hang heaps of swings and such up for them. (plus get more birds YAY) That is if I win the cage i'm after on ebay (i'm in the lead at the moment)
March 29, 200619 yr Good Luck with the cage and getting more birds although your busy with your babies right now hehe!
April 1, 200619 yr Nerwen! Thast no cage you want on e-bay!!! Thats a huge AVIARY!!!! Its amazing man! There will be no more fighting in that thing! The cage you got before..the grey one, with two doors....is perfect for my guys! They make the dolphin noise at nighttime, when they are all climbing on side of cage, and one wants anothers sleeping spot, or when ones hungry, and wants the other to move! (Laughing out loud) So, are you saying that your breeding Freckle and Pie together again? Or....and why dont you try Marine with Jangles once hes done with Tootie? So then youd gave Freckle and Pie breeding, and Marine and JangleBangles...? Then that gives Tottie a break, and she can becomse freinds with Ringo!.. Then when you get more birds, you can get Ringo a boyfreind, and another male to breed Tootie or any other hen for that matter with!...(Laughing out loud) Kirby
April 1, 200619 yr Author Freckle is too old to have any more she will be 6 in June. But they are still bonded and so mate every now and then. I am thinking of Breaking it and breeding Pie to another but they are so much in love it would be a hard thing to do. But he was a great father. Since I posted about this they seemed to have calmed down a bit again still some screaming in the morning at breakfast time and at night but not so much in the day now. Isn't that aways the way (Laughing out loud).
