A New(ish) Addition!

Hey all! I haven't been online since like... before new years or so, so I thought I should update you all on what's been happening. Well, a couple of days before christmas we had a new arrival to the aviary. I went out to feed the budgies one morning and I found a little (or rather big) budgie clinging to the outside of the cage talking to the others. So I caught him and brought him inside. I put up posters etc and we found the owner, but they had already given up on him and gotten a new budgie and said they didn't want him. So thats how we found him... A nice chrissy present I thought! Plus I was going to buy one anyway! I still haven't named him, he looks like something in particular but I can't for the life of me think of what that name is... anyhoo, here he is,

He had a bit of diahorrea when I first got him, but that cleared up in about a week so yeah. I'd never actually seen a budgie that colour and he's always raising his head feathers like he's got a crest and I think he's a bit slow, but beautiful none-the-less!

He is beautiful. What a lucky find!

To my eyes he looks like an opaline but there is something about the colour of his wings???

Can you post a larger photo?

Yes, opaline, green (maybe greygreen) and Texas clearbody.

they gave up on him, oh my I would be excited to get my feathered friend back even if I replaced him. Tsk tsk...he is gorgeous, he looks like an English Budgie too.

He is sooo pretty !!! On my screen it looks like he's got violet wings (in the second picture)- does he?

He is a wonderful Opaline clearbody :P I wonder if he is an Easley clearbody rather than the Texas one.

Your right there is a name just out of reach that would suit him perfectly. I'm glad you have him reather than that other family but feel sorry for the new one they have if they can eaily forget about the love they had for this great guy.

How about: Mercury or Merc for short?

I know, I personally would have been happy to have him back! But thats just me... I don't know much about the names of colours in budgies, so I wouldn't know the 'technical' name for him. Anyway, heres a bigger picture of him-

I think he is an english budgie, cause of his big head. He's a lot gentler than my other birds too, aka, he doesn't bite! thank goodness!

Should I keep thinking of a name for you?

He is a great looking budgie, i just might steal him away ;)

He's super gorgeous. I think I have a new favorite mutation. ;)

He sure is handsome! and your aviary walls look like mine, 1/2 eaten away. (Laughing out loud)

:grbud: Very handsome and proud looking fella. :grbud:

I've decided to call him Lucien, meaning bright. My grandma wanted me to call him something welsh (cause she's welsh), and my brother wanted me to call him Boof-Head :grbud: and I don't think its really the name that was in the back of my mind, but I like this one so that's what he will now be called!

:D Lucien is GOOD, Boof-head is not, what was he thinking? :glare:
