I just have a question about my new budgie K'ulli. I just got him about 2 weeks ago and he is my first bird ever. You can see the story here. Sometimes when he walks around on his perches he can be a little bit clumsy. For example, he'll turn around on the perch using his beak to steady himself, but he comes close to and sometimes falls off. Or he'll be trying to get from his food dish back onto a perch and he'll be a little bit clumsy. This happens about 3 out of the 10 times he moves around. Is this normal? He's young so he may just be learning, but I want to make sure that this isn't unhealthy budgie behavior.

Give him time, nobody gets perfect right away.

Okay, thanks Phoebe. It sounds like this is normal since you said give him time. Sometimes I just get a little worried that I'm doing things right since I'm new to this.

hmm how old is he exactly? it does sound a little unusual to me if he is unsteady or falling, or of courcse you could just be reading into things too much. are you sure he isnt rubbing his beak on the perch? mine do that a lot.

Well, he is doing really well guys. Maybe I was just paranoid? Either way he's a lot better moving around now, as a matter of fact he's navigating the cage like a pro now! Perhaps he was still getting used to the cage? He's doing great though, and he's even better now that he has 2 new friends.

(Laughing out loud), okay, I'm not quite sure how old K'ulli is, but I'll give a description of what he looks like. he's a graywing so it's hard to tell, but the barring is fading, but not completely gone on his forehead, his cere is still a very light purply blue tinge, and his eyes are still solid black. When I finally post pics, I'll see if anybody has an idea of how old he might be.
